Best BallHead? 322 vs 488 vs 3265

I don't doubt that a thread like this has been done before but I was not able to find it. Which of these ball heads do you all recommend.

the 322RC2 (side grip) or the 488RC2 or the 3265 (vertical grip). They are all roughly the same cost. And loading weight is not a concern. However the 488RC2 should be the lightest and most compact. I am leaning towards the 488...unless someone can convince me why the others are so much better in terms of ease of use and quickness.

I've owned both and got rid of both. The grip heads are "o-kay" especially with lightweight lenses,. but I much prefer a normal ball head. Of the two the 322 certainly had more flexibility.

Depends on what you want to use them for I guess. I use the 3265 and love it, but it does have limitations. The 488 is better for some types of shooting, I wouldn't rate any of them as "The best Ball head" IMO. But they all work ok in the right circumstances and all work differently. The 488 is maybe a little better as a all-round use head but it's never going to be as easy/quick to use as the grip action heads.

I'm happy with my 322RC2 for the smaller lenses, it can handle my 1D + 400 5.6L pretty well. A 300 2.8L however is more than it can handle...
