Hi,

I'm not even sure I have a problem or if I'm just completely missing something obvious.

Basically, my new S2 timer doesn't want to work with the flash up. Set timer to 10 sec. flash up, ready to go, then pushing the button does nothing. It's just dead. If I put the flash DOWN it works fine, one pic after another. Flash back UP, nothing. Read the manual, checked the obvious, etc. Anyone know what gives?

Thanks for any help...

I'm not sure why you have this "problem". I just double checked my S2 IS with flash up and it worked just fine on 10 sec. delay. Have had my S2 about a month now.

Have you checked your batteries? I have noticed that as the batteries get low it takes longer to charge the flash. Try putting in a fresh set of batteries, it may not be fully charged when the timer runs out. I dunno, just a thought.

I just tried it on mine and the first 2 times green light came on and then nothing. The 3rd and 4th time, I pressed the shutter button a little harder and it worked both times. See if that does anything for you. Good luck.

Hi Mxcrules,

I seem to have the same issue with mine, how long do you hold the shutter down before you try again? I have noticed I have to hold the shutter down for a longer time than if I had the flash off. Try holding the shutter down five seconds, and it should work.

You don't need to hold it down 5 seconds. An instant is long enough. To see what happens, set the camera to face you for a self portrait on timer. Hold shutter button halfway until you see the green light flashing and then depress it all the way. It only takes a fraction of a second.
