I'm curious to see who else uses the Canon A75 on here. I have been trying to learn more about taking photo's and would like to see examples of everyone's shot with the A75 if possible.

Also, any and all tips that you can give to a beginner would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Pretty good if the subject doesn't move. Anticipate your shot if it's a moving subject. It takes a couple of seconds before it takes a picture. I find the shutter to lag too much.

Here is my A75 gallery. I think it is a great camera. You just have to know it is limited in what it can do. I got to the point I was spending so much time trying to get impossible shots with it I decided to upgrade to the 300D. I still use the A75 for some stuff though.
there are three pages in there and as you get further the pictures get newer and I became more skilled.

Thx. Those are some great photo's. They are more full of color and clear then one's I can get. Do you have any suggestions for me, or some stuff I can read up on for taking better photo's?

Thank you. Can I see what you have? Then maybe I can give you some suggestions. One thing you can always do is just experiment. I took about 3500 in one year before upgrading. Try the same shot with different white balance settings, shutter speeds, f-stops and always keep in mind your focus points.

I have mostly just taken pics of my Trans Am and friends rides. I've tried a few macro's and protraits, but the color didn't look how others I've seen, so I didn't keep them. I will just have to keep experimenting with more and work on the things you've said. Still trying to figure out exactly how f-stops and white balance setups work though.

I think the main thing is...
are the pictures in focus and sharp?

You can bring out the colors in post processing. Adjust the Hue and Saturation makes a big difference. Also adjusting the contrast and levels.

I have an A75, and like other posters, I think its an excellent camera. You can do a whole lot with it. Its pretty good for photos of landscapes and (I find) long exposure shots, though as with any P&S its not amazong at anything. The manual settings are pretty good, you can even set the distance it focus's at. One thing to avoid is the digital zoom. Its a big no-no. stretching it doesn't usually work out either. an example of a bad A75 place - an airshow :D (and thats one of my better photos, albeit with no post-processing - the planes are always so far away, and the cameras zoom isn't very good - its good for static though).

The landscapes are pretty good though -

All round its a great P&S, though the resolution and zoom can be limiting, you can get them nowadays for sub £100, which is pretty good for a camera of this quality (and build quality).

Anyway :D

Yeah most are in focus and decently sharp, but I was just figuring all these other pictures were being taken before post processing :) I'll have to check out some things to work with on that then.

I've had the A75 for about 2 years now and only upgraded to a Redel Xt about 6 months ago.
I'm very pleased with the A75 and the pictures it gives. As with all P&S cameras it has it's limitations and you have to work inside them.
With the Manual and Auto settings it allows you to produce some good pictures regardless of your knowledge of Photography. If your knowlwege is limited I would suggest you take some courses either on line or in your community to get the basics, then start experimenting with the Manual modes.
Learn what the camera is capable of, read the manual, then read it again. After you have read a section practice some shots based on what you have learned and see how they turn out. Post them here for some advice, then go back and practice some more. Remember digital is cheaper than film and what you don't like DISCARD.
Don't try and do more than the camera is capable of, and you will get some great shots.
I will post some shots I have taken with mine for you to see tonight when I get home.
Remember have fun that is what this hobby is all about.

I had an A75 and was amazed at what it could do. It exceeded my expectations greatly. I don't have a hosting service otherwise I would post some pics I took when I went to the Bahamas. Don't get discouraged if you haven't been able to take some great shots. You see these crazy pics from SLR's and you immediately think that you'll never be able to produce the same great photos. I thought the same thing. My advice is that you play around with the manual settings of the camera and start snapping anything and everything, experimenting with settings, etc. Eventually you'll be taking shots you never imagined your little P&S could take. I eventually had some amazing shots with mine. I actually kinda miss the little bugger, I just sold it. Nah....I'm replacing it with a 350D, don't think I'll miss it that much. Have fun...

There was a recall from canon that included the A75...does anyone know anything about this?

I think the recall had something to do with the Sensor. I'm having a little problem with my LCD screen and would like to find out about this as well.

Just a novice at photography, but here are some from my old A75 which was stolen only two months after I purchased it--was my first camera too!

A75 image quality and controls are good but shutter lag makes it a poor choice for action shots. I was in a store with mt friend and he asked what the minimum resolution should be when buying a digital camera. My daughter has a 2 mp camera that takes acceptable general purpose family photos but you cant buy a 2 mp camera anymore so I said 3 mp. The clerk said 5 mp. I did not argue but 5 may be advisable but the question was MINIMUM. 3 mp is the MINIMUM I would consider and it wil provide good enough results. Having said that 5 mp is so much better. Let your budget be your conscience - or your credit card limit.
