Pekka,
In your future upgrade, it would be great to have sub-exhibits, i.e. have a nature exhibit with wildflowers, waterfalls, landscapes, as exhibits under the primary exhibit of nature. This way, the front index page would not get so big when you have a large many number of exhibits.
Thanks,
Dennis

Yes this is basically done, but there are still some issues to decide regarding navigation/presentation. Index page itself is easy but presenting nested exhibitions is photo list page needs some careful thinking. A nice way would be a nested dropdown menu, but that is a technique which requires javascript on client side (pretty bad) and I'd need some help coding it (simply no time to dig into JS and DHTML that deep).
I have other GUI alternatives which I like too, but all those need some time to develop, as I like to to do things slowly so that I take _everything_ into account, and take time to make sure all features scale from 1 to infinite number of photos and exhibitions and servers while still maintaining logic and speed. So, this feature may not be in next version (under rigorous testing and coding), but before the end of summer it is there.
Of course, I may put some simple version for next version if I have time, because the database is practically a separate thing from presentation and I can do a simple GUI now and full version later with same database data.

Hi Pekka,
It's been a while since I've last posted but I've been following your progress over the past months - it's been great to see EE progress. Thanks for all of the work you've been putting into this!
And for the request - please do include the nested gallery system in next release of EE, even if the GUI aspect isn't fully developed. As long as the database for the system is in a form that isn't likely to radically change, users could at least begin to set up the essential gallery functionality and organization now and upgrade EE as the GUI develops.
As an example, I've been kept busy film scanning a bit under two hundred of rolls of family negatives and slides, which is nearing an end and ready for integration into a database system. I've been hesitant to invest the time to do this with current EE, however, as nested galleries will be a necessity to keep a semblence of order. If the next release of EE includes the nested gallery system at least in basic form, I (and most likely a few others) could get started on fitting EE into what could be the gallery system to be used for several years to come.
With nested galleries, EE will be completely perfect and could easily be the last gallery system I'll ever use....
