Even after one's passing, some get to still look down on us. :confused:

I like to snow with the headstones and the church in the distance. It really gives the photo some depth.

Thanks Maureen, the building in the distance, though it looks like a Church is in fact the former Simsbury, CT town hall, it is still owned by the town and used for meetings and such. When I was growning up it was also the local movie theater. The Town Hall is now in my old high school. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I've seen many cemeteries located on the highest ground available, and possibly the most valuable property. This could have been a matter of respect or protection against flooding. In New Orleans, of course, many of their cemeteries were in the lowest areas, requiring above ground crypts to protect against flooding. Even that wasn't enough.

Stan that is true, here in Connecticut, and probably all over New England the larger and older cemeteries seem to be on hillsides. Of course back when they were first established, it wasn't the prime real estate, most of the people had farms and wanted the flat land.

that's really nice Sandy
love the photo
in Jerusalem the cemetery is high and right opposite the golden gates
so as when the gates open eventually 'they ' (those buried on the hill) will be first in through them
:lol::lol::lol:
'they' must not have heard that 'the first shall be last and the last shall be first'
seems like they may be in for a shock on the last day
:oops:
:lol::lol:
love your new cow too
:lol:
