Off camera E-TTL with 10D

How with the 550EX or the Sigma EF 500 DG super, do you achieve E-TTL exposures while off of the hot shoe? I mean what adapter cord do I need to order?

I admit that I'm not to sure about the cords, though surely the Canon ones will work fine.

I use Canon's ST-E2 transmitter; it works great!

You need the "Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord". It costs about $80 and works very well.

Actually, it must be the Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2.

If it does not have the "2", it is wrong.
