Hi I am interested in starting a small business in my area photographing houses for local real estate company’s here. I am wondering if you guys can suggest any good books on building photography or tips and hints. I know it is a lot of work but I am prepared to invest time and effort. Thanks!

Have a look here (http://www.popphoto.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=1613), I'm sure you'll find some pointers.

For starters, invest in a superwide zoom lens and if possible a PC lens. If you don't have access to a PC lens, shoot from a high vantage point (carry a ladder if you have to) for exterior shots of the house. This will help you to keep the film plane (or sensor if shooting digital) parallel with the structure so the sides don't look like they are leaning.

If you have a camera that allows you to change finder screens, install one with an architectural grid. This will help you to line up horizontal and vertical lines.

Converging lines on interior and exterior shots do not show the property in its best perspective.

My nephew does a website in Utah for student housing and he uses a digital p&s and then puts the 360 view on the net. He started it 2 1/2 years ago and it's making money on its own now. But he says you should always go as wide as possible to make every room look huge. Take pictures all around to choose your best shots. I know we have a homesdatabase.com here in the DC area that is extremely useful to realtors here. And the above article is good. I'm going to print it.
