Don't think there is such option. But same can be achieved if you crop the image later in a photo editing program on the computer.
And keep in mind: digital magnifying (same applies to digital zoom too) doesn't bring more details to the subject being magnified, they only pump up the existing pixels in a more blockier or smoother way.
Use either more optical zoom, or simply move closer to the subject

thanks for your help!!!
i shall use the optical zoom, i was just hoping you might be able to use digital zoom as i go gigs and concerts and dont always have time to sort out my zoom :o but photo editing software will do the job just as well.
Thanks!!!

Digital zoom and being able to "zoom in" on the picture you're reviewing are two quite different functions. You need to enable digital zoom before you take the picture, and then the zoom action will seamlessly transition from optical zoom (with the lens) to the digital "zoom", which just uses a smaller part of the sensor to capture the picture, but extrapolates to fill in the pixels. Once you've taken the picture, you're just looking at part of the recorded picture in more detail on your camera's LCD. You can always crop and resample your optically zoomed pictures later, if you so desire, and the quality won't be different from if you use "digital zoom" up front but you'll have more freedom to re-crop the picture.
