Hi guys my Dad is thinking about getting the A620, I had a quick look for reviews and they seem encouraging. Can anyone on here let me know what they think about this camera please?
Cheers Ricky

I have this camera and am very pleased with it. This model is very popular along with it's 5mp little brother, the a610.

Thanks for the advice guys, what is the battery life like on the camera with standard AA's?

I recommend rechargeable NiMH batteries. I am using Energizer 2500 mAh's. I haven't done any tests, but I can't complain--I rarely have to change batteries. There's no early warning signal on the camera, though, so it's best to keep a spare charged set handy.

Not really. I'm new to photography, so I rely a lot on the automatic settings built into the camera. I took the rose today in P mode using the Macro setting. It's been cropped. No further post processing. The other scene was taken a few days after I got the camera--either used Auto or one of the Scene modes, like Landscape. No post processing. Here's another taken outdoors in Auto using the Macro setting. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c297/adamsdh/Hawaii%20October%202005/IMG_0201_1_1.jpg

This camera has been an absolute pleasure to use. Takes GREAT photos, and has many more features than most P&S cameras. Highly Recommended.

marke, are you using the Macro Mode (flower icon) setting on your camera? I use Auto or P mode a lot right now with good results. Also, try to not use the flash if possible.

Any tips on fucosing? I cant seem to get a clear shot in macro mode. I looks ok at the display but not so good when you have it transferred to PC.

If you are zoomed in at all, I find the macro mode to be a bit finicky, it's easier to use the manual focus when that happens.
BTW, As you can tell, I'm back from Cali, and with TONS of great pics to share

I've tried the tissue paper trick. It worked ok. The flash is very strong--you can turn it down within the camera too. My best results have been outdoors or with no flash using Auto or P mode. I'm very inexperienced at photography and just started when I got this camera. There are probably others who can tell you more specific settings to use. Sometimes I try many shots using different settings/lighting and pick the one that comes out best--not very scientific but I usually end up with something good.
