As if we didn't have enough parking problems in Hong Kong, I found this herd of six -- two males, two females and two calves -- vying for space. So far, they've been nice enough to use the grassy islands rather than the actual parking spaces.

They're one of the many wild herds that roam around the New Territories where I live -- and you thought we were all concrete and skyscrapers over here. :)

I suppose this is where I say I've got to be mooving on, but I'm not that kind of guy.

OK Don... That's enough...you're putting many of us (read: me) to shame! Your photos continue to amaze!

Amazing photos....I like them all, the bull in #2 and calf in #4 I find especially appealing. Just excellent, as always.

Peter

Chuck... thanks very much. You really are too kind.

Peter... thank you, for the comments and for picking your favorites. That was the only infrared shot of the calf I got -- he was definitely fast moving out of frame right there.

Here's proof that I still own a color camera and that we were in a parking lot...

It's just that I usually used some body to block out the obvious...

they are just wonderful shots of the cattle don.
and guess what tune was on here when the pictures showed up on the screen ??
you'll neverguess so I will say it >
tex owens singing 'cattle call '
what a coincidence

:)

you must have been thrilled to see the cattle there in that car park
what a golden opportunity for photographs !

you will not believe this either (hardly)
but I took a few shots the other day of some cattle
and they are here now (below) showing
and mooing (mooning ???) on your post
because you will understand the why's and wherefores of why I took them :)

I like your infr. shots very much also
of them my favourites ..... are # 3 and # 4
the little calf peeping out from under the cow in#3 and then on its own.
all the cattle shots are terrific
they are wonderful massive creatures
and so content looking..... always.
you captured that contentment in the last coloured shot beautifully.
the rich shades of brown in the cattle is showing up beautifully also
thanks for catering for all our needs in showing both infr. and coloured.
the cattle there don't look much different form ours :)

thinking about it later
yours are a deeper rich brown though
wonder does their moo sound different ?

:)

showing these shots,
and the coincidence

some may be insulted
hope you don't mind.
(I don't know what that says about you :)

couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the cows bottom so took a close up
forgive me beautiful cow
forgive me anyone
:)

Tex? In Ireland? Maybe because we shipped him over there for good. :)

I was pleased because usually they're wandering around. I found these lying around and pretty calm about us photographing them. It was only when I sat down on the ground to take some slightly upward shots that they got nervous and started walking away. I would have thought they would have felt safer with me below their line of sight.

Thanks for sharing those... amazing the coincidences that happen in life.

They were silent through the photo session so I couldn't tell you.

Thanks for your comments, Marie. I enjoyed your photos.

Thanks, frate... I'm enjoying the fast shutter speeds myself. At least now everything doesn't have to be stock-still (appropriate usage in this case) to get a clear photo.

Cheers,

Don

Great shots, Don!

I really think that the photo of the cows with the P sign in the background is wonderful. Really humorous.

I like cows, myself. Both those typical "south swedish" ones, the black and white cow. But also the hairy variation.

ha ha haha ha ha
I had to put this on twice
(if the picture shows itself twice here)
its really marvellous .
was it done by taking a lot of shots in sequence?
when the cow and the calf turned their heads suddenly don, I thought it so very funny.
is there any chance you could get it hanging up as a picture and looking exactly like that on your wall:)
'no way' I suppose, because of the url business and connection
I really enjoyed it.
it is excellent
and thanks a lot for showing it

marie

ps
your cows are very lovely sniper
especially the long haired fellow.
glad you all like cows too:)
all of them are beautiful in your pictures don and sniper

A terrific animation...I must say, you do keep the inspiration factor high ;)

Oh, Sniper, your second cow has 'hockey hair', I'll have to get a second opinion from Colin.

Peter
