Group Photos C/C Please

I took this today and would like some opinions on which lighting you prefer. The first is the original and the second is the one I lightened up a bit. Thanks. They also haven't been cropped yet.

sorry I guess they were too big. These were taken with my 10D 28-135 lens and 550ex set on P and auto flash. I mainly want critique on the lighting. I know everyone isn't looking at the camera...

I'm no expert, but the 1st picture is my personal favourite of the 2. The 2nd seems too over exposed(?) I'm sure more experienced people will comment.

I would agree that the first picture is the best.
