Its been quite a while since I had used the Large format with the super fine compression ( jpeg format) on my G2. I used these options a couple of days ago. I noticed a lot of noise in the pictures that I took . All most all of them had this noise. It is clearly visible specially in night shots even when i view at 50% .( Although I did take some test shots when I bought the camera a year ago and it was fine ~ no problems et all ) the only thing that I did before these shots was I cleaned my lens and the UV filter. The atmospheric temperature was around 45deg C ( 113 deg F)...I wonder if the temperature had something to do with it .
I also doubt if my sensor is working fine ...Can any one help me with this problem. I do not see any other reason at this point.
Thanks for any help

you are def going to get noise in night shots, also check the iso speed, it might be set to 200 or 400

Best choice would most likely be to use ISO 50 (and a tripod, if necessary), because it provides the best colors and homogenity. ISO noise at 200 or 400 is unacceptable, unless used for special effects. The AUTO setting for ISO is said to automatically select between 50 and 200.

I COULD notice the noise if I set both the resolution and compression to the highest when taking the night shots. So I never set the ISO to 400 unless it's really necessary. Do you guys do things different?

Well night shots will indeed give you all sorts of noise with the camera, and as some one pointed out to use a Tripod and a lower ISO speed. With each step in the ISO speed the more noise the sensor will pick up, as it's trying to allow more light through the sensor.
If you use Photoshop there is an action that youy can purcahse that does a great job at cleaning up your images and it's one that I use all the time.
Check out "fredmiranda.com" He has a bunch of actions that will sure clean up your images. I use most of his stuff and they give good results.

For noise reduction, try neat image. For this specifically, it may be better than photoshop.

thanks to you all ...! I did take some test shots again playing around with the ISO settings. ISO 400 does generate a lot of noise specially in the dark regions. I noticed it in a shot taken in day light too.!
As for Neatimage, I am new to it and am trying to get a good output from it . I will keep trying ..!
And I do not use Photoshop. I would like to try this out using photoshop also . I will keep you guys posted..
Thanks again !
