View Full Version : Power problem when connecting camera

I often got this problem when I am connecting the Camera to my Computer via the USB Cable:

The camera locks and there is no power lighting, even if I power the camera with the Compact Power Adapter when connected to the computer.

Then I have to remove all connections, remove the battery for 10 seconds and try again. By doing so, the camera may function and I can download images to the computer.

Does anyone have similar experiences? Is it something wrong with my camera or is it possible that I am doing something wrong?

Turn your camera off before connecting USB!
As soon you connect the USB cable your camera will wake-up automatically and a window should appears on your screen with alist off program or the selected program associated with the event should start!
If before connecting USB you are in a battery load phase (connected thru the power adaptor), the load light will stops and the orange light (above near the shot/replay button) will lit.

Thanks to rangersvtsplash.

I checked the firmware and it was old (ver. 1.0.0.0), although I bougt the G3 in April 2003 (here in Norway). Therefore I went to
http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/PSG3/PSG3_Firmware-e.html
and downloaded ver 1.0.2.0. Quick and easy.

Thanks also to marcel wouters for the advice about the right procedure when connecting the camere to the PC.

Now the connecting seems to function perfect.
