Our team participated in an area holiday tournament this week in a nearby city. Though they tried very hard, they simply couldn't prevail over some of the larger schools. This gym had the worst lighting I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Here are a few from the tournament. I shot in RAW but still didn't come away with decent images.

#1: With the 85mm

#2: Taken with my new 200L lens.

#3: Another with the 200L

#4 "Double Trouble" I finally got both boys in focus in the same frame. Note the crappy yellowish look to the image. This is how all of them looked without extensive editing. It was a nightmare!

wow, these really show how the longer lens flattens out background. Your going to end up with so much stuff for year book they will need a whole additional volumn for basketball. Also the chap in the first shot seems to provide you with your best action shots...

Cheers and happy new years to you all.

Oh, I'll probably upload most of these to Smugmug and sell them to the parents. I've only got four pages for basketball in the yearbook. And yes, the little guy in the first one and his identical twin are the ones I tend to photograph most. They're only freshmen right now, so it will be interesting to watch their growth in ability over the next few years.

I must say, while I like the sharpness of the 200L, I'm not crazy about it in the gym. It will be a better lens for basketball and track, I would imagine.

Happy New Year to all of you!
