I was messing around with the aperture settings and this is what I got. The lighting is natural light from my bedroom window, by the way.

maybe you could try shooting at a different angle ..
Maybe, showing the body of the les paul from a 45 degrees ground up

Pfft...too bad I don't still have my '68 L5 Custom. That was a beautiful guitar. Pictures don't do it justice, though. Not without that sound.

During the wildfires here in 2003, we were evacuated because the flames were within 1/4 mile of the house.
My brother called while we were packing, and my daughter (who also plays guitar) answered the phone. "Did you and Dad get all the guitars?" They were the first things in the van after the "lock box".
I recently sold my Les Paul and turned it into more photo gear. I've come to realize that I'm more of a Fender guy; I like the longer scale...

certainly are Daddrio's ACDCROCKS....well spotted!, Cool SG by the way. Its wierd how people tend to be either Gibson or Fender people.....I guess its just because they are complete opposites, but both excellent in their own ways.

D'Addario uses color-coded ball ends on their strings. Looks like you had to change the G string, though. The ball end on that should be green!

Before buying my Les Paul, Kaman Music gave me two Hamers. Probably the best made guitars I've ever held; certainly blew the doors off of Gibson or PRS. The downside, though, was that I wasn't inspired by them. I sold them and bought my Les Paul.
One of the things I like about Fenders is that you can't kill 'em. I've beaten my Strats half to death, and they just laugh at me...

I've Gotta stop Overbending the G string Steve! . I know what you mean about the Fender's build quality, The amount of stick they take is mad!. The Les Paul is a very well made Guitar but I've always been a bit wary about how much stick a glued - in neck could take (or not!).
I've never played a Hamer but the double cutaway Les Paul style one they did looked really nice. I also have a Godin guitar which is a Strat - style guitar made in Canada, Thats been thrown around all over the place but still thankfully works!:)

I tried D Addario strings but, they seem to loose their sound quickly. When I played Mother, it just didn't sound right after 2 days (Not that it was played on a sg;) )

I also have two low-end Ibanez...but they aren't worth showing off. I'm a Gibson/Epiphone man. I like the mahogany bodies because they're rich in low-end and the necks are nice and thick, good for my big hands.

Nice. I'm not a big fan of honey blonde..but that looks good. A little too much white on it for my tastes, but still very nice. :)
The best strings I've ever used were Gibson Brite Wires (.10's) and another brand, I forget the name of them, but they're really heavy gauge (.13's) and they are amazing for dropped tunings.

The pic doesn't really do it justice, as its a little burnt out - it was just a quick snapshot taken to e-mail to my wife to try and justify the price I paid for it !
In daylight the body is a lot more off white, and the pickup covers and knobs match it very well - I'll try and take a better pic tomorrow. The finish is semi-transparent, allowing the grain of the wood to be seen - a lot of work must have gone into it.
I wasn't too keen on the anodized scratchplate at first, and thought of replacing it with a tortoiseshell one, but its growing on me so I guess it'll stay !

^ ^ ^ Nice edge binding on the fretboard . . .
How about a colour shot to show off the sunburst ?
Heres a few more of my baby - the closeup has a piece of white A4 included to show the off white of the guitar. The wood grain was hard to capture, but it is just about visible, as are the mother of pearl dot markers.
Both pics show the one minor imperfection on the guitar - an oversight at the Custom shop, but I can live with it - in fact IMO it looks cool . . . can the more eagle eyed of you spot it ?
As for the price - lets just say I could have added several High end L's to my sig with the money, but I've been playing guitar now for almost a quarter of a century, and have been promising myself a Strat for ages, so I think its well spent.

Is it the pots? You seem to have Volume-Tone-Volume when it should be Volume-Tone-Tone ? I'm assuming this is a mistake with the knobs not a wiring choice? I'm probably wrong - been out of the guitar buisness for a while!
edit: Forgot to say - those noiseless pickups are great! Much better than the old Lace Sensor ones

Yup - someone at the custom shop obviously hadn't had enough coffee that day, and put on a volume knob instead of tone :)

Yep, gold hardware.
It's not really all that abrupt really. It looks like that because I did a little contrast work to make the color stand out a little more.

Back to the photo at hand - I like the angle, it's not your typical shallow DOF guitar neck image - in my opinion it's got a bit more originality...I'd like to see it without the feet and the stuff on the desk/shelf.
good try though!

Since everyone's tossing up pictures of their axes, allow me to be no different.
This is commonly referred to as "Ol' Faithful", which my "go-to" Strat whenever I play. The other ones, I think, are getting jealous:

Messing around with the white balance and flash, I almost nixed this shot, but something about the angle worked for me. I have no idea why:

It's the Highway 1; the cheaper American version.
I've got a number of Strats; this is just the one that plays, sounds, and feels the best. I don't think I've taken my 1990 American Standard out of its' case since 2002.
I'm not big on anodized guards, and I like how the tortoise shell looks against the Honey Blond finish.

You could try the Epiphone Black Beauty's, or the Gothic Les Pauls, made of swampwood with mahogany necks and rosewood fretboards. I played a Goth LP, and it sounded very good.
