I have a rebel X and for Christmas my wife bought me an external flash unit Quantary QB-350A. I have two questions one will using this flash damage the camera?? I have used it a few times and it seems to be working great. My next question is what shutter speed should I use to sync the flash with the camera? Thanks for helping

It shouldn't damage the camera; Canon hasn't been clear about this but the 350D, like its big brother the 20D, and unlike prior cameras, accepths higher trigger-voltage flashes. If you're concerned, the previous guidelines said no more than 6 V, which you can measure between the flash contacts.

The 350D syncs with small flashes at up to 1/250 sec. If your flash is slow, you may notice some image cut-off in the frame, in which case, drop down a notch or so until the whole frame's lit.
