Arrrrgh!!!
Looks like canon are struggling with demand, I placed my order for a 10D nearly two weeks ago, ive been told by Jessops (uk) that it could take 4-6 weeks, they have 500 10D's reserved for customers.... I didnt think there would be a mad dash for a £1250 camera.
Gives me more time to look into other stuff like lenses, speaking of which I have my sight set on 28-135uis, its £1,550 with a 10D which is a great deal.
I want to ask you guys what extra's should I get for the lense? I want a lense protector and a polariser. Would the protector or a UV filter effect the image quality?
Thanks in Advance

Try AJ Purdy - Park Cameras and Mathers, they all advertise in the Amateur Photographer, and have had stock lately. I just got mine from Jessops in Newcastle a couple of weeks ago, after trying the dealers listed above. I picked the 24 - 85 3.5 / 4.5 USM for the wider angle, and Jessops were the cheapest of the bunch.
cheers

I got my 10D from the first batch (from my Canon Pro dealer) so don't know how supply is at present but a bit of phoning around should give you some idea of where any are for sale now. If you are in Leeds or London try The Flash Centre (my local Pro dealer), you might not get as much of a discount but you might get the camera faster and better service too.
As to the filters - a Skylight on the front of the lens at all times is good practice, cheaper to replace than a lens front element and also protects the front of the barrel - my wife dropped an 85mm lens some while back and the filter mount was scrap but the lens was fine; a colleague had a stone hit the front of her lens, smashing the £120 skylight filter but saving the front element of her 400/3.5 Nikkor!
And a good - most these days - filter does not affect image quality so as you would notice unless you were in the habit of testing the lens on an optical bench. Look for Kood filters which are a good price at the moment, I have some 77mm Skylights on my L lenses and they are just as good as the Hoyas I also have.
And yes, Amateur Photographer is the magazine for adverts.

Try www.warehouseexpress.co.uk - got mine from there a month ago, along with the 100-400L IS lens.
Very good service too and I got 256Mb sandisk card included as a freebie :)

If you subscribe online just make sure you get the current issue, it contains a voucher to send off - you don't even have to get the 10d and lens at the same time or from the same place.
Got my 10D from Jessops last week byt CMOS unacceptably dusty so need a replacements - I'm being told the same story about lack of supply - worth trying many stores though (I'm not sure they talk to each other).
BTW got mine last week and they price matched £1209 (check pricerunner.com) I also opted sor the extra 2 years cover for £75 on the basis that I was assured (and got them to double check cos I doubted it) that sensor cleaning is covered by this warranty.

Don't know if you got one yet - but highly recommend Ace Cameras in Yate (Nr Bristol) - they did have a waiting list, but I only had to wait a week for mine.

Jessops had 2 10D's in this morning, one was for a customer who reserved it on 29th May!!, im no3 on the list, the 2nd one is for another customer who hasn't contacted back at the store yet... ive been told if he doesnt collect in next 48hrs they will give it to me :)
The reson I buy from them is they have good service and will loan a camera if mine is sent for repair.
They got my 28-135UIS lens in, all I need is the 10D
Me waits with baited breath for the next 48hrs :(

Just bought a 10D off digital depot + battery grip, warehouse express are waiting for both and the grip is £20 more at warehouse.
I phoned up Monday and it was delivered to my house Friday (It would have been thursday but the courier couldn't find my house)
Bought it Friday still in the box.
