Hi,
I'm new to the Forum and have so far been unable to successfully post an image. I'm just not sure how it's done. Can someone give me an idea of where to go to learn how it should be done?
I have tried to do a copy/paste to a new topic screen but that didn't work.
Thank You,
Brian

You can post a link or imbed.
To post a link is just an easy cut and paste of the url.
Imbedding is a little different.
First the site that has your photos must allow direct linking to host your photo.
If so then second would be to right click the image and copy the url from "properties".
Thirdly, paste that url between these tags where the star is. Use these [] symbols instead of the symbols. Do not include the star. *. Do not leave any spaces between symbols.
Here is the help section that also explains.

Sorry, just to clarify - does this mean that if we want to imbed a photo, it has to be uploaded to some kind of personal webspace (or suitable site) first ?

Is there no way to 'attach' an image to a post ?

Yes you need webspace to upload images to, there are free ones http://www.boomspeed.com/ for starters has a 1meg limit and very easy to use and no addys yet.

Also, www.fotopic.net provides 250 MB free space AND allows embedding of images, as well as the usual gallery setups, etc.

When I click on the link above,. I get an error message saying "Forbidden, you do not have permission...etc.."

Pbase does NOT lett you embed images on other sites.

Once you get images onto a server that will allow us to view them,. then you can post them here.

lucky,

I was a little shocked too when I realized you couldn't post pictures directly. But below is a website that is excellent for displaying your photos and then posting them to this site. Once you register with bytephoto and upload your photo (takes a little time to read all the information on how to do all this, but believe me its easy). Once you have uploaded a picture to bytephoto, right click the photo and click on properties. This will give you the address needed to post to this site. Copy the address and then come to this site and in the message text type:

(img)paste address you copied here(/img)

*NOTE DONT USE () SYMBOL, INSTEAD USE THE WIDE BRECKET SYMBOL [] TO THE LEFT OF THE "P" ON YOUR COMPUTER. I CANT SHOW YOU HERE BECAUSE IT WON'T SHOW UP CORRECTLY.

And that is it, preview reply message and the picture should appear. It looks like a lot but really its easy once you do it. Good luck and hope to see your photos.

http://www.bytephoto.com

is a great website. Its free and easy to use.

It is confusing.

1: You have to have the image on a web site somewhere, you cannot post it from your pc because this server would get overloaded.

2: Open the image (wherever it is on the web), right click and Copy Image Location

3. In your message embed (paste) this location between [ img ] and
[ /img ] (Leave out any spaces, I have to show it this way or the forum thinks it's an image, grrr).

e.g. [ img ] http://www.dahdeedahdeedah.com/images [ /img ]

(no spaces anywhere - close them up)

Hope this explains it. Took me forever to find out too!!
