I know this is a stupid question but ..

Does anyone have an opinion on this lens?

CANON EF 500mm f/4.5L USM LENS

I assume it is discontinued and replaced by the f 4.0 IS version. But that means this one may be available relatively cheap... (relatively!)

this would be for a 10D,.. of course :)

Thanks.

This lens was used a lot by wildlife photographers, most of who upgraded to it from its manual focus predecessor. It's comparitively light weight, 3kg, compared to super tele's. Optically excellent. Was really only disliked because it didn't have AF ability with earlier EOS bodies when used with 1.4x extender. Should be OK but limited to centre focus sensor with 3, 1V, 1D etc.

Thnaks David

I think I missed my Chance,.. it was a "Buy it Now" on Ebay for $2,600.00 and some idiot bumped it past the reserve in the first hour,.. (thus deleting the Buy it now option)... now it is at 2300.00 with 9 days left! It will sell for way more than that "Buy it now" option at $2600.00 :(

Oh well,.. next time I'll click faster.
