What do you think the chances are of Canon coming out with a true 180 degree fisheye for the mark 2 ??? I know Nikon stepped it up with a 10.5 Wonder what Canons deal is? Any info would greatly be appreciated.

Which mkII ? There is a full frame 1Ds mkII and a 1.3 crop 1D mk II.
And do you mean 180 degrees from corner to corner ,as in full frame fisheye? Or the 180 degrees a circular fisheye gives?

As canon are headingin the direction of making all 1 series full frame at some point in the future ,and they allready have a a full frame fisheye lens i'll take a stab and guess you want a circular fisheye for full frame?
I'm thinking canon may never make one.Sigma have a pretty good one and canon have shown themselves to be abit reluctant to develop lenses that they'll sell VERY few of just to fill a gap in their range.

By the way (off thread abit) ,pentax have just announced a zoom fisheye to suit their 1.5 crop digital bodies.
Actually they have had one for years in full frame format but us canon users rarely get to know about such things

Since Sigma already has a 8mm circular fisheye that seems to work, I doubt Canon has a lot of incentive to develop one for themselves. They do have the 15mm fisheye which covers a need probably more then a circular fisheye. Also remember that only FF users will be able to use the 8mm circular fisheye and these are a much smaller percentage of users then 1.6x owners. And people desiring fisheye lens make up only a small percentage of those, so for Canon to design a circular fisheye at all (and especially for the 1.6x) given probable number of sales I think is not very likely.

Just my opinion,

Why only FF users can use this lens?

As others have said, there's no particular reason for Canon to build a 1.3x crop fisheye (of whatever the coverage) since it's their declared intention to discontinue the 1.3x sensor format. I could, possibly, see a market for someone developing an APS-C fisheye, and I'd suspect the independents would stay away from that because it's a limited market with Nikon and Canon the two big players. Nikon's already got a FE for their 1.5x crop; a 180 deg diagonal for 1.5 (Nikon,Minolta,Pentax, Sigma), for 1.6 (Canon), and for 2.0 (Olympus) crops would need different focal lengths (a zoom fisheye? wonder if . . . ) so the indies probably wouldn't bother. That just leaves Canon as a possible maker of a fisheye for the EF-S mount.

Well, strictly speaking anyone can use it. But with anything less than full frame, you won't get a circular image. You'll get most of a full-frame on a 1.6x crop, and a cropped circle on 1.3x.
