Hi all,
I am thinking of doing my own web site to display my photos, anyone know of a good bit of software to help run it (slide show, etc).

You could try flickr, you can use them to host your pictures and create your own slideshows.
If you want maybe say a photoblog, its worth checking out pixelpost, there are literally thousands of blogs running this software including my own site and best of all, its free.

For My photo website (http://scottrphotography.tripod.com) and for the websites I have made for other people and school, I have always used Macromedia Fireworks. It's a breeze if you are familiar with Photoshop because you edit and create the site one page at a time with tools that are very much like the ones in photoshop (layers, masking, slices, etc.) So far it has worked very well for me and the websites I make come out very eye-catching.
