Hi Vaughan,
I doubt it. I bought a D60 from Hong Kong in January and the warranty was only valid for Hong Kong. I have known the shop owner for a number of years and he recommended mailing it back, should it fail.
I guess the USA warranty would be the same, i.e valid for USA/Canada only.

Yup, that's right. I just got out my warranty card and that's exactly what it says. The camera must be purchased and used in the US or Canada for the warranty to be effective...according to the fine print.

From what I understand Vaughan, if you buy an international (grey market) camera in the US, you have to either ship it back to the originating manufacturer (Canon-Japan) or you have to ship it back to the company you bought it from and THEY ship it back to the originating manufacturer. It's too bad that Canon doesn't have a warranty like my Toshiba laptop has. It is a USA warranty but it can be repaired anywhere in the world! Now that would be nice!!! You could buy a USA model and then extend the warranty through Mack for 3 more years for less than $100, but you'd have to send it back to the USA which would cost more, and it wouldn't cover it in the first year. I don't know buddy; I would really think long and hard over this one.
