First of all . . . Thanks for the encouragement and advice. I set the camera on automatic and went out and shot, shot, shot!! It was great and I got over my intimidation. Of course I'm looking forward to learning the manual settings, and I know I will get there.
I'm now ready to find an online photo sharing site. I've looked up a couple that I noticed are used by forum members. Any personal recommendations?
Also, it occured to me -- can someone take your images and use them for their own? That's a disturbing thought! Is there any way to protect yourself?
Thanks, Donna J

Pretty much all you can do is watermark the images (sighn your name) and limit the qualitiy of the images you upload.
For instance,. despite the fact that fotopic.net will allow me to upload the full sized images jpeg or RAW to my gallery and it will automatically shrink the displayed image,. I allways reduce the size myself to 800-600 or so before the upload.
Also A disclaimer on your gallery will help cover you legally if in fact you ever decide to sue for damages theft etc.
:D
Welcome! And I can't wait to see some PICS! :)
//I promise not to steal 'em :)

As far as photo sharing online, I use http://www.usefilm.com. They have a great site, and a very tight-nit group. We are in the chat room almost all day (when time allows) and have a blast. I also have my own website for displaying my images. http://www.deckyon.com
As far as the copywrite goes, sorry, but yes, people can take and use your work. Only way around it is to use something like Photoshop's Watermark plugin to mark your photo.
Good luck.

I agree with Deckyon that useflml.com is an awesome site. You can post an image and get immediate feedback, which I have found to be helpful.
As far as storing as many photos as you can, probably fotopic.net, it gives you 250mb of storage.
Pbase is another very good site.
PhotoSig is great, but I find it stuffy :)

Kep in mind if you use Fotopic.net,..
!!READ THE LINCENSE DISCLAIMER.!!
By using there site and agreeing to the license they have rights to use your images any way they want.
(roughly translated) :)
For me this wasn't an issue,.. but it may deter many.

www.pbase.com really nice site that uses Gallery PHP software to organize your photo galleries.
www.pbase.com/polloloco81 is mine.
10mb free,
90mb for 30bucks/year (which isnt bad at all).

CDS. . .Thanks for the heads up on fotopic. That is an issue for me, not that I'm so great or anything. I just think that my work shouldn't be used by anyone else without my consent.
