Just curious, but is everyone using the ZoomBrowser software that came with the G3 to manage their photos (move from camera to PC)?

I think this ThumbsPlus software (came with the Short Course book) looks good, especially since it has a built-in redeye feature. I'm just not sure if it handles the transfering of photos or if this software to be used after the photos are already on your desktop.

Anyone try ThumbsPlus yet? Does the redeye feature really work better than editing the photos in Photoshop? Can it replace ZoomBrowser?

Thanks.

If you have XP, there is a built-in image transfer wizard that provides good functionality, including image rename and auto numbering, folder selection/creation, and it remembers previous names and folders you have uploaded to, and if you already have images up to 47 in a folder (e.g., Kids-pool 047) it will start the next set uploaded at 48 (kids-pool 048) automatically.

Yes, I am running WinXP, but I was really inquiring about using software which is possibly better than the ZoomBrowser for moving files back and forth as well as correcting any redeye in the images.

I appreciate the info though :)

If you mean from moving images from your camera to your hard drive...if that is what you mean, the XP wizard does it very nicely. If by back and forth you meant between folders in your hard drive, read on below.

I prefer Adobe Photoshop products, and use Photoshop Elements the most, as it is simpler and more appropriate for most of my tasks than the full version (currently Photoshop 7, I believe). Elements is only about $50 or so. For things like redeye, Microsof Picture It might also be a good choice.

Adobe Photoshop Album is one tool that some like for managing their images (keeping track of them, sorting them, moving them about, etc.). Allows you to assign keywords to images for quick searches, etc. If you are willing to invest the time in assigning keywords it can be very powerful.

There is also a replacement for ZoomBrowser called BreezeBrowser that some people like very much.
