It sat for me but I still didn't manage to get a crisp shot, still, it's my best so far. Blurred the background in PSE because there wasn't much contrast.

Everybody has to make a start somewhere. Nice catch. Keep at it! :-)

Wow that's a great start :)
Is it in flight? I can't see what it's on ?

I think its a great Dagonfly, but, you blurred too much of the BG, I would restore the perch or branch its on.

This is the original. I'm just learning how to manipulate and am open to suggestions. As you can see the background was dry bracken so not easy for me to trace around. I find using the magnetic lassoo very frustrating at times.
Thanks for your encouragement.

Nice first catch. They are not easy, particularly in flight. :)

Good first attempt. This fellow looks like he hsa seen better days. His wings have quite a bit of damage at the tips.

Try using a very shallow depth of field when you have very busy backgrounds like this.

What lens did you shoot it with?

Good effort. The background is so important for these guys. If you can get a solid green (daek leaves) or blue sky as a background, the dragonfly shows much better.
