I recently purchased a Canon 20d w/ 18-55mm kit lens. Then went on and bought a Sigma 30mm, Canon 85mm, 100mm F2.8 macro, Speedlite 580ex and battery grip, 2gig Flashcard.

Yes, I'm hooked. I especially like taking portrait and macro shots. Although I cannot get my wife to pose so I take more to the macro side of shooting.

Here are a couple of shots I did dropping food coloring into buttermilk. (The buttermilk was going bad in the fridge. Leftover from baking Christmas cakes.)

Tell me what you think. I enjoy constructive criticism.

Again, hello everybody. Look forward to learning a lot from everyone.

Welcome Brian

There are a lot of very knowledgable people on this forum and I'm sure, like me, you'll learn a lot from them.

I like your shots although #1 is my pick of them - excellent timing. You're right about the last one - really spooky. It's a shame than the pattern did not form in the middle as you could have had some really excellent abstract crops from it.

Anyway - enjoy your new kit and, if you ever find a way to persuade your wife to pose for you, let me know as I'm in exactly the same boat!

Greetings and welcome to the forums! It sounds like you are already off to an impressive collection of gear. These forums are wonderful and have helped me far more than any other source of information.

I like the shots you posted. Very creative and something I probably wouldn't have thought to do. They are a good example of how one can find interesting things to shoot without going too far.

Thanks for the supportive replies.

I enjoy the process of being creative. I am always thinking now of what other people may have not done as far as perspectives go. Seeing things from new angles is always good for the mind.

here are a couple more pics.

You're right. I look my first pic the best so far. I took about 150 shots to get 1 good one and a few that are so-so.

The first one is super. I think I like it because it's one singular drop and is very simple.
Keep snapping away. It's really the only way to get the exact shot you've been wanting.

Welcome to the Forum and your gear looks really wonderful.

Very nice, and welcome. Only thing I would have done differently is use a smaller ap so you can have the front/back (depending on the shot) of the splash in focus as well. Other than that, nice job!

Nice work man, you'll love it here. I'v only been here for about 2 months now and keep finding all new information. You need to get your wife to shoot with you, I have a ton of fun when my fiance is in the mood to model for me. Nice photoshop work by the way.
