Outdoor Bridal Portrait

New guy here, and this is my first post. Just bought my 20D three weeks ago with the 17 to 105 F 4 lens.

This image was done outdoors last August using my Bronica GS 1 with the 150mm lens and Kodak Portra 160 NC film. The film was then digitized by my lab. No artificial lighting used in the creation of this image.

Welcome to the forum. There are a bunch of more senior members here who have much more experience than I do. However, I think that it is nice shot - I like the way that the eye is led around via the trail on the dress and the branch overhead. If there was one thing that I would have done differently it would be to have gone in slightly closer.

Welcome the Forum! Love the contrast in colors. A slight bit of cropping would focus more on the bride. Hope to see your new posts with the new camera.

Agreed with all of the above. Perhaps a slight crop and resize the image a little larger. Otherwise the color is fantastic and the bride's expression is great. Nice capture.

The composition of that shot is outstanding. The way you framed it with the leaves, branches & trees ... It's perfect, just the way it is.

You're gonna love that 20D. You'll soon want more lenses for it though, so tell your credit card to prepare for a wild ride!

I like it too... the flow of the train and the curved tree branches make this flow very smoothly. I would keep this as is then make a second copy and pull it in as a close-up.

Welcome Benji. I love the shot. A very slight crop might improve the shot but it would have to be a minimal crop. I've tried it numerous ways and it's very hard to find the crop that doesn't make the picture lose it's overall appeal. Would you mind if I have a play with the picture?

I agree with Maureen, leave this one as is and do another where you crop tighter thereby bringing the bride in closer.
