Well, I must say I'm very happy and quite impressed with Amvona and their Dynatran AT-CF94 tripod. I got this carbon fibre tripod through Amvona's Ebay auctions at a very cheap price :p. I was expecting it to be a fair to good unit I guess from what Fee and some others have said but it's alot better than I had thought it would be for the money.

I was also expecting it to take 4 weeks or more with so many holidays and such of late. I ordered it 2 weeks ago today (7 days of which where public holidays) and here it is the other side of the world already in my hands. I have sent snail mail letters within my own country which have taken that long lol. So I'm also quite happy with their speedy service for this time of the year.

It was well packaged, came with/in a very nice well made, lightly padded carry bag (also came with a separate shoulder strap for the tripod) which was inside of the retail box which was also inside of a nice protective outer plain box. A little over-kill in my mind but nice I guess. First impression is very good, nice build and design. Good quality fittings that all seem to function easily and very well.

I really quite like the feet on this unit also as they have a ball joint which allows them to sit well on any kind of suface and be level. Also if it's rough dirt or such there is little spikes that screw out to dig in. The twist locks are simple and easy to operate ( I was worried about these as I have very little strength in my hands/wrists). The hight of it is quite good also, I'm about 6' tall and with a head on this tripod I wont even need to raise the centre column most of the time.

The catches for splaying the legs work well and without problem, theres a leveling bubble on the tripod itself (not a big deal but nice, more important on the head) and the only thing I can say not positive about it so far is if you put the centre column at full hight and lock it very tightly it tends to stick a bit. Was easy to work out how to release it though and doubt I'll ever in normal use have it that high.

More use will tell the tails of the test of time, but first impressions are very good, for others looking for simular tripod these may or may not be what your after but are certainly worth a look.

Many thanks Fee and to all the others also who have put good words about Amvona's products here, I wouldn't have found them otherwise and I'm a very happy man.

Good review! I'm pretty happy with mine as well. I also got mine from one of amvona's ebay auctions. You really couldn't beat the price. I've never owned another brand, so I can't really compare it to others.

Hey Wayne, glad to hear it's in your hands already. That was fast. Now you just need to get those birds perched on your tripod. :DLOL!

Just ordered a gimbal head also the other day to put on it to play with, lol I ordered the head locally and seems I'm likely to wait longer for it than my tripod that came from the other side of the globe. Need to get out shooting more Fee, haven't been out shooting wildlife much of late. Getting birds on the tripod would make for a bit of entertainment lol.

Brad, is that the model tripod thats pretty much the same as the AT-CF94 but has the flip levers instead of twist grips on the legs ? Whats the difference between the H95 and the H96 in use, they look almost the same but certainly seem to have the same features & specs.

Mitcon,

Yes, my tripod has the flip levers. From looking at amvona's site, I can't tell much difference between the H96 and H95 heads. They H96 is a fraction of an inch taller, and .04 lbs lighter.
