I've never seen the Lowepro, but I'm quite happy with my Expedition 5

They are both good bags. I prefer Lowepro - brand loyalty - I have read of poor quality in Tamrach but not Lowepro. I have 5 L bags of different capacities. My Mini Trekker is the AW variant and has worked well in all weathers.

I also have an Expediton 5 and like it. Haven't had any problems with it. Fits in overheads ok, very well padded. I can fit my stuff OK, although I haven't re-jigged the dividers for my 300 yet - but a cursory check seem to suggest I should be able to squeeze it in! I considered a 4, but I'm glad I didn't now!
MY old man has a Mini Trekker Classic. They are similar in size, but the Tamrac is bigger externally front to back, but the Lowepro probably has a little more room inside (mainly width) as the padding isn't as substantial as the Tamrac.

i like my mini trekker, but no decent tripod holder.

how much bigger is the tamrack to the canon eg200? I could barely fit my xt w/grip and 24-135 sigma attached. It would barely close if i put all my stuff in, kit lens, nifty fifty, 420ex, and the sigma attached to camera. I didn't even want to think how tight it would be if i had gotten the sigma 70-200 f/2.8

I haven't had the opportunity to compare them directly, but I have the Expedition 5 and have been very happy with it. Roomy, protective, and actually comfortable to wear.
