Guys how many of you have a nice well done portrait of you your partner and if you have childrean them as well?
Duncan shoot me and my family however our lightning was a bit off, the photos were fine.
So here is a thought for a shoot. We get all dressed up and we have a portrait evening after dinner. Between us we have ample speedlights, I have 2 stands and umbrellas. I aslo have a few books on lightning and posing that we could look through for ideas.
The weather will not matter as it will be a "formal" sitting with casuals photos as well. I have much to learn about using my 3 speedlights and I think between us we could produce some photos that could be printed and dispalced in our homes.
All I have for backdrops are black and white sheets we would need a director as well :)
Thoughts comments?

Weka, seeing as I've got a webserver, hows about something like this?

I've got a few phone numbers already but will only add detail as guys okay it - let me know if it works for you or I should change/delete anything

Duncan I got the same reaction. "Its ok for you to shoot me but all your mates as well" :(
I was then going to say that wazza could provide a bunch of young firm flawless woman, but im still gathering my brownie points backup and didnt want to blow it :) Wazza convinced me to go for the Sigma 300-800mm next.
I think we would have 1 photographer and family/couple at a time rather than free for all we all have a turn at been the subjects and the photographer.
Tell her that does not like the camera that she could be wazza's director assistant.

We do, and it has been used that way on several ocasions by both myself and even another professional photographer over a couple of weekends, lots of nice natural light. It is about 6x8 meters with windows north and west facing.
Here are some shots taken there over the last year and a bit:

Hah!
Warren shall we organise a little evening - say, up at my batch, on the beach. It has plenty of room and oodles of natural light.
We can invite all the supple firm young ladys we know and adore, and shoot them in this order, Alice, Emma, Bekah, Christina, Hannah, Sarah, Megan - and if you can find a girl you can bring her along ;)
I have plenty of ... 'props', and Alice has a few interesting costumes you might be interested in shooting her in.

We can probably make a Friday night work, would be artificial lighting though, I know you have a fine selection of flash guns.
Will have to keep my wee one clear, she has an eye problem that causes her to hate bright light (flash guns and direct sunlight). She is in be around 7pm anyway.

Hi - I'm new here (and master of the obvious).
Moppie pointed me to the GKPE threads.. once I figured out what GKPE was about I snooped over here and read through.
My name's Kirst (Kirstine, iKirst, Woody, Hey you, Can you, Will you (and so on)), Shore based Aucklander, with my first SLR. I have loads to learn about it, but at least know where the on / off switch is ;)
Oh, and warning, I either talk too much, or observe in silence too much :)

Thanks Wazza, noticed you posted over on my site. I peeked about on your site too :)
Woodhill 100, D1NZ, Puke.. I already asked another friend of mine if he knew you from the same events (bar the Woodhill 100 - that takes me back..) He did, Nikon D70 user, Dion. Sound familiar?

Frank is the 'new face' on PCTV, but has had a ton to do with the set up of D1NZ initially.

Ignition post pics on NZHondas, but we allow them. We allow any photog who wishes to share their images of a day, with no inclination to benefit finacially, to post.

Not yet - had to ask the extended warranty folks if they'd cover for accidental damage. Turns out the warranty that describes accidental damage hasn't been released yet (?!) so no, I'm not. Will phone for an estimate on Monday. (still franticly scouring FM buy&sell for a plan B body)

Last night, I couldn't be bothered.
And tonight I drove out to Piha. Just got back.
As I went into the Waitakere Ranges, it was all cloudy, and like driving through fog. On the other side it was no better.
So I chose to walk around Kitekite falls, and do a few stream shots in the VERY low light. Most the shutter speeds were 2-10 seconds!
Take a look in the Travel and Landscapes section sometime. I'll try and get some shots up tonight, but for now have to get ready and go to a house-warming

Found another trip to do.
Went down to the Coromandal yesterday to do a fishing trip off a mussel barge, the drive around the coast lends itself to some great shots and the sunset on the water was stunning. No pics though because when we left thames it was raining hard so left camera gear safe and dry at my gandmothers house. Regreted it when we got out there and it was a nice clear day not a spot of rain. :(
That and the fact that even on a fullish moon the fishing was great.

I'm saving my money today, not driving to the drags... Instead, I just spent the last 30min selecting 78 raw files, adjusting the levels etc, and now doing a batch convert. When it's finished in maybe 20min, I'll change them in photoshop to smaller jpgs, and make a Simple Viewer page. They're some good Theatre photos from last year, which I never got around to editing!
The whole series goes along nicely, with 1600 ISO and f1.8 - f2.8 on 50mm

Double eh? You're just trying to catch up to Tim. :p
Class? Sweet.
I'm going to Bethells now. I have a girl to take pics of. :D :D :DYeah - class, even if I did delete that bit out by accident
I'm not a post whore, I swear! I got harassed about it on that other place I post on - then they made me mod, then club secretary, then all the other stuff I do too.., so I'm allowed to post whore there, being that I'm all important and stuff :p
Have fun with the girly on the beach

I'll keep spiking my hair, as long as I got it. Going by the genetics in my family, I'll be completely bald by the time I'm 25.
I've seen these pics of my dad, at 21, he looks cool.. 26... Man, what happened

I do have my own glamour, but promises aren't for breaking. I can't post the pics, when they say please don't show anyone else.
Alright, well I'm off.
I'll have to see if I can put these on People section.

Bwahaha! Impossible
I opt you use Simon as a model ;)
I would defineatly advise against that. We can't have everyone here breaking their cameras on the same day now can we.

Alright I'm back.
Those bloody clouds are so annoying. They crept in again, and blocked out any sun. Instead spent the last 30min relaxing on the sand dunes...

That 2nd pic is georgous, clone out the people in the background and enter it in a competition, you'll win - except maybe for the hand in front of her face. Apart from that, perfect.

Ah wazza those pics bring back some fond memorys of my youth and the beaches at Mt Managanui. In those days we didnt have digital cameras :(
I like #1 the best but would have IMHO had her look directly at the camera, the pose is fine. The eyes are everything.
The last time I was at that beach people were drowning.

Yeah, she was too shy to show her face at that point sadly. Wonder if I can photoshop another face of hers, lol

Interesting avatar Wazza - a new variation on the one lots of people have. I'd recognise you from just your hair! Is it like that when you wake up in the morning? :p

Wait till you see my other friends. Just none are comfortably with photos. :o
You can't be bad behind the camera iKirst. :p
I have been known as the clown on GKPE trips. It's almost embarrassing. But always being the youngest on the trips, someone's gotta do it. :D

Ok - perhaps I should stay away from GKPE's. I'm.. clown like.. most of the time. 2 Chuckles The Clowns (short notice name, shoosh!) can't be a good thing..
Just keep aiming the camera at your friends, they eventually give up and let you shoot away. Experience speaking here! (They all hate me)

they don't hate you kirst they are 'allergic' to cameras, its an afliction that I also suffer from, thats why I stay behind the lens and not infront of it
