I like them both, Wonderful warm light in the first and i know from experience flight shots can be tough and the snowy is no exception. If it was my shot I would remove 40-50 % of the shadows in the second shot. It looks like she is partially back or side lit. Either way it is a nice shot of one of my favourite owls.

Ist one, as mentioned, is warm and quite nice!
2nd one, the light was not nice to you. I would try Gary's suggestion.

Thanks for the hints and comments. I dont have a shadows tool, so if you want to show me what that would look like go for it. What is CB? The bird was backlit and the sun was just going down. I was unable to get a different position on her. Poggi these are Plum Island.

Here are 2 renditions. The first is just using the shadow/higlites slider in PS. The second is the same with a lighter variation chosen from the variations option. Looks like a female or juvenile ( adult males are usually whiter). Great capture!

Thanks Gary. I guess CS2 may be worth the money afterall. If I only had a computer to run it. I believe it was a female. It was a pretty large bird. Who knows?

There may be another way. Go Back! The Snowy will be at Plum Island most of the winter, Go Back and get the shot you want in the better light. I was there last week got a couple of shots of a Marsh Hawk. I didn't see the snowy. Next time I'm going early and staying late! Your shots are good by the way!
