What is the best way to sharpen images for printing? (usually 6x4 in my case).
Do you just adjust the parameters in "unsharp mask" for best screen appearance and hope for the best?
Do you print a test image with strips sharpened differently to compore results?
Do you take the best screen apperance parameters and adjust them according to some rule of thumb?
When setting parameters for unsharp masking, do you have a preferred order for adjusting them?
I am also trying to learn what I can from books. One of which offered this advice about resizing:
"When you go from really big to really small in one step, the resulting image is often a tad soft...If this is the case, consider resizing your image in increments, sharpening it at each step...."
Is this good advice? I find it hard to understand how more steps (sizing and sharpening) would not result in more "damage" to the image.
Many thanks to all you kind people for your assistance in helping me with my questions. [Which I hope you will continue to do even though I am now shooting with KM5D  , though I do print with a Canon:) ]
