Hi everybody,
I need some help. I have EE uploaded and installed. And then? I can't get any photo visible, I have some thumbs but that's it. In which folder is the big one? In big? I put some photos there but I can't get them visible. I see information about installing and so on, but I want to know what I do now.
Please help me.

Hi Joep,
There is a FAQ in EE which may explain many things.
Basically, you set up a path system (you can use demo exhibition paths so you don't have to set up anything) and upload images to them. There are size paths (small, big, medium, whatever), which are paths for big size photos, and then thereare thumb paths and microthumb paths.
First it may be easiest to just add photos to demo exhibition (hide or delete the demo photos and rename the exhibition).
Make a new photo by clicking "click a photo to edit", then click "CREATE A NEW PHOTO FOR THIS EXHIBITION" ). A window opens which shows all photos in your thumb directory, select one and you enter photo editor. Here you must select size paths you have for this photo.
Basic principle is that each photo in database looks for one filename for thumbs, microthumbs and sizes. Size path system handles which size goes to which photo and from which server and folder. Size path which has variable default is the default size (see path editor) - each photo must have one default size path selected.
Photodata defaults is a system where you can preset all camera and size path settings for each exhibition so that you don't have to do all work image by image.
Keep asking until you have the answers :)

Hi,
Pekka, first of all I want to thank you for this great sites, and specially your photos!and for sharing EE with al of us.
I have installed and been tinkering with EE.
If I understood it, when submitting a photo one must manually resize (or using an action) to the different sizes, upload them, then go to the editor, type in all the info, or select dropdowns, and then even the EXIF data? or is it the EXIF gathered from the jpg's?

EXIF is not read by EE 1.3.
EE 1.5 will read EXIF and IPTC data and resize and deliver. See more in http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12648 - I'm just finishing the public beta now.

Have just read it, great! I was about to start hacking a perl/php script gluing jhead and DBI... now I'll wait :)
BTW, I love the EE look and feel... your design is as your photos, tasteful!
