I was thinking about going on the 21st for the "Meet the Artist" night. No time to go for me this weekend.
I figured I would go that night as well, but I figure it will be crowded and I would "see" more tomorrow.

My stupido!! I hung around and went to Providence late. I had noticed that they had hours Sunday, however "failed" to see the Hours clearly posted on the website of 9 AM to 1 PM. Oh well maybe tomorrow!
I noticed a pretty nice looking restaurant diagonally across the street from the Show Location, Aspire, (no web site) but they don't open until 5PM for dinner, so I guess that's out for a combo trip with Pauline.

I don't know why I assumed that was a weekend! But it actually works out better if its a weekday as I'll be at work so an hour closer!
Hey Becca. I am up for Dinner!
Sounds good, Don! Let me see what that week looks like work-wise. I'll be out 2 days the week before but if I can get caught up, I'd love to take off early and head down.

THIS is my plan for tomorrow! (Sunday) Anybody in? How about you guys and ladies close to PVD (within 50 miles, (LOL). This does not happen that often and represents some high level talent!

Here is the location. Plenty of parking in that area on Sunday. Or park for $1 in the Mall and walk over, or park for free in the State House lot and walk a little further. . . . . or car pool with me!

So who's interested in checking out CDS's "Meet the Artist" night this Thursday, the 21st? Michelle and I will be heading over there after work and probably after we grab a bite to eat. Don? Becca? Bueller?
Also, I was thinking it's time we do another Providence Waterfire (http://www.waterfire.org/season-schedule/2008-schedule)/Sunset/night shoot. Maybe Saturday Sept 13, as they close of the streets by the Turks Head building (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turk%27s_Head_Building) for ballroom dancing (photo ops galore) that night. Weather permitting, of course!

Yes, this waterfire on the 13th is a full lighting. There are a few left this season, I thought that one would be interesting for photo ops because of the ballroom dancing in the streets.

For anyone who wants another shot at Sunflowers, by Wednesday, the 27th, the farm in Coventry, RI will be at full bloom and should be great for a week or 10 days.
The location is :
Old Saw Mill Farm
2473 Victory Highway (Rt 102)
Coventry, RI
About 1 acre of Sunflowers and the farm is owned by Tim Gallagher, the Son of Cap'n Fred that sailed a group of us for the air show. So, if you go, tell Tim you know Fred and he will let you roam! Good chance to pick up some nice fresh vegetables at the Farm Stand!,

I'm going to be working in maine for a month, I'm thinking of heading up to Acadia on weekends, anyone been there? Furthermore, what time do the leaves start to change colors up that way?Mid to late October for "peak" but you'll see color before then. It's beautiful up there in the Summer, can only imagine the Fall.. The peak travel season for that area is over (It's July / August) so traffic should be reasonable.
Also check out Schoodic Peninsula (Winter Harbor) which is a little North of Mount Desert Island http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=44.355033,-68.112831&spn=0.153427,0.339203&z=12, it's beautiful and quiet all the time.
There are many carriage roads (smooth dirt) that you can bike on that are also very nice, so bring a bike.
And if you get up early enough, you can catch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain which sees the sun before the rest of the US due to it's height above sea level.

I've been there pretty much every year that they have had it. I highly suggest checking it out. My favorite is Tale of the Tiger where they have a bunch of tigers to check out. There isn't many places you can get that close without a fence or cage.
I'd be interested in going but I work crazy hours so I wouldn't be the best point person.

Hey folks, I kind of dropped the ball on Waterfire this Saturday. As it turns out, the weather is looking iffy and I'm running a fever from a bad cold, so I'm most likely out. :(
King Richards Faire? Hmmm, my wife and I usually go, dressed in period garb. I don't know how I would disguise my 40d.
What we all should do is try to get together for a classic New England autumn color shootout. Maybe try to find an out of the way village in NH or VT with valleys overlooking the town, some old barns and cow pastures and lots of bold colors! I'm going camping at Mt Monadnock first weekend in Oct, so I can report back then on the colors. Last year the color was late as I recall.
Suggestions?

Yeah i saw that. I don't know that i believe it as a true source. Rarely would someone come forward and say that the company is doing something bad... unless they don't want to keep their job. But what they are saying doesn't really seem unrealistic either.
I guess we'll see if they have anything else up their sleeve for photokina. Let's hope.

Let me see what I can do about getting a couple models together and doing a get together somewhere. I've got some locations that are available to me, but most are west of Boston along Rte 495. For the month of Oct, I also have a 2100sq ft open space with wood floors, white brick walls, exposed pipes, 16' ceiling, and a slew of huge 8' windows, heated, A/C, etc. I can also bring a bunch of lighting gear. Or we could shoot somewhere on location.

Hmm i was wondering. I left work at 6pm. Didn't want to hang around... plus i'm down here in Westport so waiting around meant not getting home until 9pm or later. So what's going on, anything new? The leaves and NH are starting to sound good. :)

Eat before you get there or you'll be spending a lot more than expected, they use tickets for the food so unless your paying attention you've know idea how much you're getting hosed.
Make sure to catch the Liger show, the mud show can be pretty good also.

It is just one of those places that you really like or it holds no interest. We went once and didn't care for it.
Even after that, however, we used it as a bicycle destination and then just went to a nearby restaurant..

It's part of a display called Park as Muse, put on by the friends of India Point Park. The gallery is only open during the week, during the day, but the opening reception is Friday, Oct 10 from 5-7 pm, if anyone in the area is interested.

Yes, I guess. It's one of those purchases that you have to make and it adds no value, houses offer all these kinds of opportunities, roofs, siding etc. PS: This is camera related because I was kind of leaning toward spending half that amount on a 1Ds since the 5D Mark 2 does not impress me. I guess I will wait.

I ended up going on sunday as well. Haven't looked at my shots yet (went to a football party right after) but that joust looked great. Only had my 17-50 so I didn't get much reach for the joust. It was a good time overall though. The turkey legs there are amazing.

all the bags (Kata/Lowepro/Crumpler/Nat Geo) are 20% off their retail price.
I didn't check out any of the Body/lense (note to self: stay away at all cost), i've spent enough on lense with the MS cashback program.
So, after wandering around for 2 hours, my brother in law ended up with the Crumpler camera strap:D.

Anybody here have any thoughts on this subject?I've never had good luck with the Epson printers.. I love the fact that they have a ton of papers for them, but ones I've owned if you didn't use them all the time, the heads would gum up and have problems printing. Maybe they are better now, don't know.
On the other hand I've had good luck with the Canon printers.. I've got a S9000, and it's still going strong after 5 years or something. I use it occasionally as I have a HP All-in-One for daily printing. When I do use the Canon, it does a clean cycle and whamo, awesome prints. :)

Don,
I've had the epson R2400 for about 5 years now never had any trouble with it although
I make sure to print something every couple of weeks the prints that I made when I first got it look like I just printed them. The Ink can get expensive as it seems to go thru light mangenta mor then the other colors. The new R3800 looks like a nice printer and I think it goes 17" wide.

Thanks Steve! The 2400 is a great printer but, as you say the ink is on the high side because of the ink cartridge capacities. I have it and I want a larger format. The 3800 is 95% of the way to the goal, but it only takes sheet stock.
I keep thinking a new 17" with a paper roll and all the blacks installed all the time is close at hand. At least I hope it is. Beyond that, the Canon 5100 will be my next printer.
