Because of my larger-than-life personality, of course. :D

Ahhh people with big egos....naturally....you'll want a helicopter all to yourself then!!

Personality man, not ego. I'm the humblest person you'll ever meet.

Was that too subtle? :D

The September Bostonist photo walk info just went up. 3rd Sunday of the month again, this time Sept 20 - 8am we'll be walking the North End. http://www.flickr.com/groups/bostonist/discuss/72157622285363922/

Scottes
7th of September 2009 (Mon), 11:55
Brad, do you have a public version of that link, or can you post the details here?

polarbare
7th of September 2009 (Mon), 20:06
hmm. That should come up for everyone. Are you getting an error or asked to sign in or anything cause you shouldn't be.

Details so you don't need the link:

This month's walk will take us to the beautiful North End. We'll meet at the corner of Hanover Street & Cross Street by Mother Anna's restaurant, and proceed along the Freedom Trail past such places as the Paul Revere House, the Paul Revere Mall, The Old North Church, Copp's Hill Burial Ground, the Boston Garden/Zakim Bridge, and finish at North Station. For those wishing to stay for lunch, options include Boston Beer Works on Canal Street, or in the North End.

This walk will start at 8am and last about 2-2.5 hours. Once again all are welcome and our walk is free (buy your own lunch of course).

If you'd like to come with us we'd love to hear from you here so we can get an idea of our group size.

~Brad

The image was shot with a lens that has 8 blades in the diaphragm. A 17-40 has 7 blades. Thus the image was not shot with a 17-40.

That's all.

Harm

Lots of the same people on both forums? I know I am there, but haven't put up any photos in a while...If Boston is getting tired, what do you suggest? Putting up anything here?

When visiting the in-laws in Northern NY, we went mountain climbing...I should have a panoramic done from the photos I took, here is a nice view though:

Sorry i didn't mean that offensively, nor toward your photo. I was just looking through flickr for the last 2 days and noticed nothing really new, I was surprised because i haven't been over there in like 1-2 years.

What i meant is that the city needs updating, not anyone's photos. Didn't mean anythign offensive at all.

Boston is small to begin with.

Harm
11th of September 2009 (Fri), 14:00
Ahhhh, gotcha...well when you have a high concentration of photographers in a city that isn't that big, you're bound to get virtually everything done...then it would be a case of details and shooting at angles, but essentially of the same thing...

Well having moved here from the UK a couple of years ago, a change is always good...though I've been given an offer to move to Brisbane, Aus in Jan, depends on the wages they offer to whether I'd accept or not...I wouldn't mind it.

Geneva would be nice to live in...places I've been already? Loved living in Milan, and surprisingly, I really enjoyed Belfast and it's surrounding regions in Northern Ireland...I think I could survive in Paris, though it isn't right up there.

Yeah Brisbane is interesting... never been but there seems to be a lot of people there which is indicative of people at least tolerating the place. :)

Geneva is nice, but i get tired of the French-Swiss after a while and their utopian dreams. No offense to French folk. lol...

Belfast is awesome. I loved it there also... i could see living there. It's sort of like Boston, to me at least.

I like countries that are still developing too, for the chaos factor. Like India. There truly is no other country like it, it's total chaos there.. and i love it. Spending almost a month there at the end of the year. Aussie and NZ are on our map to visit soon.

Where in the UK did you live?

Harm
11th of September 2009 (Fri), 15:04
Seems you get about too....

Was born in Liverpool (hence the Avatar), then moved to Newcastle.

I know what you mean about India - my parents are indian, so I got to go around that country a lot, and as you say there is so much to see, and unlike Boston, everything is different and very colourful.

Never been to Aus / NZ, not yet anyhow!!

India, Yeah, i'm bringing all my gear. Here's to hoping i keep it all, haha...

NZ is very intriguing to me. Seems very nice, and somewhat expensive. Well if you end up in AUS, all us Boston POTN'ers will have a reason to go down south!

Gloucester is nice as is Marblehead. Never thought about night shoots up that way. That's a possibility. Weddings have been nuts this year, our season doesn't officially end until December 19th and i'll be in India for almost a month in November, so I guess i won't be seeing you guys until the cold returns. Though with the climate change, who knows, maybe it'll be warmest then....

LOL! It was on the other side of a chain-link fence. And that cat can PURR!!

My buddy Paul made those bracers in that photo above, my wife used to work for him at KRF, and they know Doc. We've been "behind the scenes" with the animals a couple times. My wife and I spent 20 minutes playing with a 10-week-old panther cub. 10 weeks old, 40 pounds. And then we went playing with a half-dozen 2-month-old tiger cubs. They were ADORABLE.

If we are interested in like a mid october plum island/ipswich/newburyport shoot, that might be awesome.

Well, when I am healed again, I will definitely be down for that! I actually did make it out to Pier's Park once this summer (might have been spring) but it was so incredibly windy I couldn't get a decent shot. Even with a heavy tripod the camera was shaking around like crazy.

Jen D.[/quote]

Cameras and video cameras are permitted inside Fenway Park, but cannot be used to reproduce the game and must not interfere with other fans' enjoyment of the game.

Their webpage is very vague. I think I read somewhere on the web you are ok if your lens is 7" or less so you could be ok with a 70-200 but probably not with a 400 2.8

symbolphoto
1st of October 2009 (Thu), 18:57
Yeah i've brought a 70-200 in there. I wouldn't go much further than that. You 'could' carry in a body with a small wide angle and put a longer lens in a purse or friends bag or something. Looks smaller when not mounted.

I went Sunday to this and it was fantastic. I stayed for both reenactments.

Did anyone else attend this?

I don't know if all you folks know about this:

Welcome to the Massachusetts Abandoned Property Division web site.

It is estimated that one person in every ten has abandoned property. According to the Massachusetts Abandoned Property Laws, most financial assets that have been inactive for more than three years are declared “abandoned” and turned over to the Commonwealth.
Many citizens have questions about abandoned property, such as why do states have abandoned property laws and how do I file a claim for my property? With this web site we seek to answer many of your questions and reunite abandoned assets with its rightful owners.

This is a free service and there is no time limit for filing a claim. It is my priority to make returning abandoned property as easy as possible.

Sincerely,

Timothy P. Cahill
Treasurer and Receiver General

you've done a damn good job of doing it justice. perhaps a bit more saturation would give it more pop.

Most states have that. I found my sister's name on it recently and she promised to split it with me. Well, turned out she got $500, and I got -- NOTHING. I guess she forgot. :o

Great stuff Steve. I wish i lived like Willie Nelson! :)

We were out there earlier this year, i can't wait to see your 'processed' photos. You always turn out amazing stuff. I still feel like Steve is some famous photographer that hides behind a 'camera name'. A ghost Camera'er if you will. I just wish you'd post some of your best stuff sometimes. People would be amazed.

One of my favorite places to get a sunrise is Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. There's lots going on - island just offshore, sand dunes, old house, wooden foot bridge... pretty place.

The Royal Navy couldn't silence the USS Constitution's guns. Nor could the Barbary pirates. But she never met an enemy as fearsome as the Charlestown yuppies. Lets see, who was there first, the ship - or the condos?

If you feel like a trip, Old Silver Beach in Falmouth MA is a west facing beach, so you can view the sunset over the water.

Check out this sunrise from my hotel room the other day...

I honestly don't know what the heck the light on the right is... Maybe a reflection from the TV in my room or a UFO - I was near area 51 :-)
