I am looking for insight on how to handle images out of the camera for the best quality prints. RAW images appear to produce better quality prints than JPEG’s. Yet RAW images cannot be printed directly they must be saved as TIFF’s. Can anyone out there share a practical way of capturing, reviewing, and printing these best quality images that doesn’t take forever. (If this solution utilized the provided software that obviously would be even better.)

Also is there a way in Photoshop Elements 2.0 to print out multiple images on a single sheet of paper (from different files)?

Thanks,
Don

In the file menu under print layouts you can use either the contact sheet or picture package. Otherwise you can just use layers...

I've tried this but it seems only to work with one picture. e.g. -> 2 5X7 but of the same image only, not of different images.

I use PS7, but I'm guessing Elements is the same. When you go to picture package, and select the size of pictures you want, you can click one of the preview images on the right and it will pop up a "Select an Image File" window where you can choose a different image.

So, in your example you would choose (2) 5x7
for your layout, and then it will display a sample with 2 5x7's on it. Click on the bottom one and choose a different image. Hope this helps.

Personally, I don't like using this method, because if you choose for example (4) 4x5's and then choose four different images, the next time you come into the picture package creator, PS will reload the last package you were on, so the more different images you have, the sloooooooooooower it loads. I now prefer to create my own actions that will generate what I need. It may take a little bit to get it set up, but it's worth it in the end.

Thanks for the feedback - I will try what you have suggested.

Do you find PS gives you best shot at highest resolution printed pix?

The higher the better. Plus, if you have high resolution, you can crop the image and still get good prints. The higher the resolution, the more data you have to work with.
