Ok I have seen alot of real nice pics of cars on here when they are sitting there. I like ones in parking garages and stuff. I just want some advice on shooting cars, what to look for, and how the lighting should be and stuff.
I really like this shot

Umm basic car tips...1.Use a cp to reduce glare and get rid of unwanted reflections 2. Get low to the ground to take the pic 3. Be aware of your surroundings (ex. poles growing out of the top of the car, trash on the ground, etc) Basically tho just have fun with it. Take alot of pics and ur bound to have a few keepers.

I might go to a parking garage this weekend Why? It's the worst possible place to make a car look good.
CP = Circular Polarizer. Some people use them for car shots.

I'm suggesting that, if you can make it look that good in a garage, you can probably make it look excellent in better light. A large part of photography is using your imagination, isn't it? ;)

I dunno...my fav. photographer Easton Chang yields some pretty good results with parking garages. Its just a matter of finding an aesthetically pleasing one with the right kind of lighting.

Yeah, I don't get why some of you guys don't like parking garages. I would love to take shots of my car in one. Never have found an open one. That Porsche Shot is great as is that NSX!! Anyone know of some garages in San Diego I can go to??

He shoots most of the cars standing still then spends 4-5 hours in Photoshop to give the motion blur

Yes, he's done some great work. I notice that all of it isn't done in garages though. ;) In which ones do the car look the best?

Absolutely not true. Does he use photshop? Yes, and hes pretty much perfected his style. But i can assure u he uses a rig. I dont see what the big deal about psing ur pics is. Do whatever works for u. What hes doing appears to be working cuz he always lands several advertisements and covers for mags. Ok sorry for hijacking the thread...back on topic.

Interesting thread and both the shots are very nice. However, replace those cars with something everyday and I don't think they would work nearly so well. A good choice of backdrop can make an ordinary car look cool, hence cool looking adverts. I must admit though, carparks are easy to access for everyone and in the end working with the enviroment you have is better than not shooting at all.
