Any UK DSLR users share their secrets on printers - I did read somewhere on this formun of digital prints on 2100 being available somewhere. I've tried the high street digi labs and been left disappionted with the results. I'de quite like to get a print from 2100 to determine whether its worth purchasing - an indication of 10x8 prices would be useful also

thanks
John

Clarification - I mean printing from the 2100 rather that a 2100 available somewhere to buy. Ilford seem to offer printing on Ultrachrome inks on 7600 etc.

I am looking for portraits (school shots, home studio etc) where a can see good quality results

I'd doubt if anyone is offering a print from a 2100 service as it is not a 'lab' type printer.

I bought one at the beginning of the year and have never regretted the purchase. But it is not the machine I would have bought if I wanted to set myself up in a 'd and p' business - and I can't imagine anyone do doing.

It would be like setting yourself up as a gardening contractor and only buying a hand mower. The results from a hand mower are often better than with a 'sit upon' - but pretty slow.

You know the price of the 2100.

I buy my paper and ink from http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ in the US. That is because you can't get Premium Luster in the UK and often some of the other surfaces go out of stock.

When you look up the prices of paper you should bear in mind the fact that the cost of the ink you use could be twice the cost of the paper. Most people assume that the major cost is paper - but it is ink.

If you can't find anyone to show you a 2100 working I am happy to bring some of my prints into my office in WC2 and you can see them.

E:mail me if you want.
