This may be a novice question, but will ask anyway.

After reading the manual on the 100-400L on the focusing range, it indicates to "make sure to switch the focusing range onlt when the focusing distance indicator reads more than 6.5m"

What is the focusing range indicator? Is this found in the viewfinder? If so what does it look like and how will I know when to make the change?

Thanks

It's on the barrel of the lens

You will know it needs to be switched when it doesn't focus.

Yep, switching it will dramatically increase your AF speed when you are shooting anything over that distance away.
