thanks, yeah that was shot with a 580EXII on the hot shoe. He is indeed a bengal. He will be joined later in the month by a new Toyger girl. Pretty excited to get her.

Here's one more of him "flying"

wow,,,the paws on that thing are massive! what breed is he?

He's what's called a Felial of the Bengal breed (in his case F2, 2nd generation down from the Asian Leopard Cat crossing with a domestic). Bengals are once they get at least 4 generations down from that (F4 and on down but are no longer really referred to as F5's etc). The males are 99% of the time sterile and sold as pets. He's probably 2 times the size of my others. I have 2 other Bengals that I'll have to get shots of. Actually 1 other, the last one I just got (December) is an F3 (actually a nephew to this guy).

If I have to take him to the vet, I have to call ahead of time because there is only 1 that will tend to him - everyone else is afraid. And NO he is not declawed :D

I'll try to get shots later tonight of him next to the others!

No in all honesty unless you are buying a show cat they don't look too much like a tiger. But even a decent upper pet quality will have glittering in the fur and very soft. Here is a pic of the one that I will be getting. (courtesy of the seller and permission to post)
She does have a nicer orange color and a good amount of white in the underbelly so it does have some tiger markings.

this cat is sort of a neighborhood cat,I know from nuthin about cats, this guy(or gal), surprised me coming out my back door, camera in hand to test a damaged Tamron 70-300 lens I own. I saw the cat,the cat froze,i fired off a shot,(this was about 8-10ft. away. The shutter clicked, the cat was gone. Pretty little thing.

I keep coming back, they ae all gorgeous.

Sooty is a mere youngster, our Zoe died at 26 2 years ago!

Nic to see some leashed in there, they adapt pretty well to them. I tried to find my pic of Zoe with her lead and harness, but it must be on the other computer. She didn't learn it until we got her when she was 16, but soon got to know if you want to explore outside, it's leash with Daddy on the end!

She is about 24 in this pic, part from a little stiuffness, you wouldn't have picked it. And there was a cat in Britian who lived at a post office in London who I think died at 31 or 32, he was a black like Sooty.

And the Kitten Krew are divine, bet they keep you on the hop!

Its much harder to use the "human island" when the cat doesn't have front claws, but I know the situation all too well. He was fine after his "bath" though, back to his regular smug self.

A couple of shots of 9 week old kittens in the house. Converted them to sepia, liked the look. These are at thier calmer moments. I figure they are turbo charged and drawing in a fresh supply of fuel during this time. Thanks for taking a look!

Here are a few shots of my 'Little Man', Dezzie.
We got him from a local rescue centre at the beginning of the year, he was in quite a bad way, suffering severely from cat flu - So much so they weren't sure if he'd make it!

Hes been with us for 8 months now, and couldn't be in better health! Hes such an attention seeker, but we love him all the same :lol:

I did a photo shoot at the humane society for one of our local magazines, and saw this kitten. I went back a week later for a few more pictures, and she was still there. Today I had another assignment right across the street from the shelter, so had to go check and sure enough she was still there. So, I figure after three visits, we were meant to be together. I pick her up Tuesday:).

I didn't notice what the cat stared at, but I remember there were 2 other cats in the group that moved over to the left of where I was standing so I suppose it kept an eye of what they were up to.

I can never get all 3 together. They sleep together once in a while, but when they hear the camera the white guy (Oliver) takes off. We got all 3 from the same humane society.

http://www.pbase.com/randy98mtu/image/90051464/large.jpg

Felix is the oldest, about 5. He was found as a stray and my wife got him. He is the nicest of the 3.
http://www.pbase.com/randy98mtu/image/90653603/original.jpg

Oliver is the middle, about 3. He's the trouble maker.
http://www.pbase.com/randy98mtu/image/90051465/large.jpg

Maxwell is the baby. He's just over 1. I was trying to duplicate the Felix portrait but it didn't come out quite as well.

Two cat photos...

First one is Truman...brother of Capote...so-called 'barn' cats...

300287

Second one...well... I dunno...but he was looking at me like I was lunch...

300289

I should note that neither of these have had any PP work done on them, and, in particular, I left the wire in the second shot because it was the only evidence that I was at a zoo, and not *really* an appetizer...

CC welcome vis-a-vis composition, lighting (all natural light, btw), etc.

Garden cat is a calico cat (and a very pretty one too) and therefore female. Male calicos, while not impossible, are extremely rare.

this is why tortie and calico male cats are so rare: http://www.vivo.colostate.edu/hbooks/genetics/medgen/chromo/mosaics.html

it explains how the black & orange genes are linked on the X chromosomes (of which the female has 2 and the male only 1) and therefore can carry any combination of all black fur, all orange fur or both. according to the article the white fur is on a different gene, and can be present or not, just as in other cat coat colours like tabby etc.

too much information? lol
