Yes, she always looks like that......shes a Ragdoll....AWESOME cats! They have the best personalities of any cat Ive had or seen....Also, if you are usually allergic to felines (as I am, asthmatic) check them out. There is something about their saliva and dander that does not cause allergic reactions found in most cats! Shes only about 12 pounds....more fur than fat

The Soft Paws/Soft Claws can be bought at www.fosterandsmith.com for about $15 a package... they come in different sizes from kitten to adult and different colors too ;) They also come with a nontoxic glue that you use to apply the caps... they stay on for about a month, then when the cat sheds its claws, the caps come off and you reapply them. Each package has about 3-4 months worth, if I remember correctly... and you can also use them temporarily while you polish up kitty's anti-furniture-scratching training, then wean the cat back off of them once they are more trustworthy.
And yes, they definitely DO save furniture - and your jeans, when the cat decides they make a nice scratching post, and your hands when the cat plays a little rough, etc. etc.! :) We swear by them here. If you take a package to the vet, they can put them on for you and show you how it's done. We do it ourselves nowadays, but it took a couple months of training to get the cats to the point where they don't mind us putting them on anymore. (Bribe them with treats, it helps ;) )

We had some excellent weather here in Portland, OR this past weekend... so I decided to go out and take some photos of a friend's miniature schnauzer. During the photo session, the dog went nuts barking non-stop... I looked behind me, and here was this cat just relaxing in the sun. I snapped this quick photo before he was chased away by the dog. 1D/85 f/1.8, Av priority, Av= f/1.8, Tv= 1/5000, ISO=100

Hi,
This is Tigger in his favorite spot (on top of the radiator). He's a 22lb Main Coon and plays like a little kitten. I can't count how many vases, glasses, ect that he has broken over the years. When he wants attention he will jump in your lap and head-butt you until you pet him.

Thanks for the compliments on Gary.
Here are some interesting facts on her:
1) She is named after Spongebob Squarepants' pet snail.
2) She was born wild and came to our house in the woods when she was about 4-5 months old.
3) I had to 'capture' her with a safe animal trap because she was too afraid to come to us.
4) The vet had to sedate her to do her first checkup.
5) She hid behind the toilet for about 6 months and eventually came out to live with the rest of us.
6) In my wife's eyes she is perfect and can do no wrong, even peeing inside of a recliner.
7) The Rebel XT is my first nice camera and any of our other point and shoots could not get a good picture of her. It was as if her beauty was too much for a cheap camera!
Thanks again for the compliments.
Here is another shot of her and her mommy.

I've got a feral calico. She was about 2 hours from death when Ferret Rescue found her- got her healthy and we adopted her. She was extremely tiny, now she's just big and fluffy. She seems to be the one that enjoys posing for some reason. My vet made the comment about calicos and bad temper. I'd always associated bad temper with Siamese and Siamese Mix.
Here's a shot of Saffy - I can't get Irfanview do do anything with it and I think I needed the contrast for the PDA.

A GREAT site is www.thecatsite.com/forums/ (http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/). A poster there, Hissy, knows everything there is to know about cats. Well, close to it, anyways. I've seen her stumped on a question only once or twice and I've been posting there for a couple of years, lol
Thank you all

Thanks,
I know what you're saying it's difficult to get the contrast with black cats indoors and you tend to get terrible results from direct flash.
More luck than skill I have to admit, I had just got the 350 and saw her having a nap on my computer table so used f4 at 0.4sec iso100 holding the camera still on the table.
It was pretty orange initially so I made it a mono, played with the contrast a tad but it was pretty good to start with.

Nothing grand here, just two snapshots taken with a point and shoot camera of my cat. He has a number of names, but the usual one is Ash Kitty.
The photo of him sleeping was as a result of an accidental hand covering the flash, but I kind of liked the dreamy effect anyhow.

Here's one of the 2 cats that I inherited when I bought a home in the country out here, extremely interesting personality since she's basically a feral cat. She's keeping a close eye on our Brittany Spaniel in this picture.
Still doesn't have a name, gotta think of something one of these days...
