As Number Six mentioned, it is fairly easy to white balance an image ... especially when your subject also doubles as a white balance target. :)

Since you are using Photoshop CS3, I recommend using ACR to white balance an image -- even if it was shot in JPG mode (works best in RAW, but don't overlook ACR for processing JPG files).

Here is an edit in ACR and then final processing in Photoshop using Shadows/Highlights, NeatImage plug-in, and finally low amount of USM.

He's a Missouri Tiger. Back story...my wife and kids talked me into getting him a couple of years ago by naming him Chase Daniel...the Missouri QB at the time. Chase is a pretty good cat name I must admit. He's a house cat though. He squirted out one day and came back looking like this. Don't know what happened; but we're even more vigilant now.

Jay, that picture made me think about something that happened one cold morning a couple months ago. My wife went out to get the paper and saw a box by the mailbox about the same size as the one in your picture. She peeked inside and found a white rabbit with black spots along with some Purina rabbit chow. Apparently, somebody decided that having a rabbit for a house pet was not such a great idea and decided to dump it. She asked what to do with it and my suggestion that Brunswick stew would be good on a cold day was not met with much enthusiasm.

I was playing with an off-camera flash & home-made diffuser and trying to get a few kitty shots tonight when I caught this one. It's not the greatest of shots, but it cracked me up. Junior shook his head right before I snapped the pic, and this is what came out. His ears are perfectly normal, by the way (when he's not shaking his head).

She was only 6, she collapsed really suddenly at home and I managed to get her to the vets but she died when we got there. They said she had a blood clot and that they wouldn't have been able to save her :(

I think it was even more difficult because it was totally unexpected I, I've never cried so much but I take comfort in the fact at least I was there and tried to do something so at least she wasn't on her own when it happened.

It was ironic as I took that first picture the day before she died as I'd just got my new camera and I wanted to try it out on her because she was my favourite subject to take pictures of.I never even thought that just 24 hours she would be gone.

Edited to add: My husband isn't really a cat person, he and Cooper (the grey tabby pictured) are near mortal enemies. The only thing that keeps that cat safe is the fact that I'd be devastated if something happened to him. We both love dogs but he's just not a cat person, claims they're too difficult to train.

She was meowing too much this morning so he put her in the bathroom. You'd have thought she was in time out!

Rest easy - We both adore dogs too. I was a dogs only person, then one day she brought home a battered, old (so we thought) female, stray or ferral. It was instant love, as soon she passed on (thyroid trouble) I was onto the local cat rescue, then seeing this one needed a friend was after another.............. big mistake, she don't like anything that isn't her, but thats a different story ;)

Did that, but with every cat we've had it's like trying to hold to a hand full of eels........ So no, we think if they get that distressed about it and 'whatever' is doing them no harm, it's just not worth it.
We got cats, so let them be cats, if that means putting up with a bit of wall paper stripping or a a couple of rips in the couches leather, what the hell..... our fault if we can't learn to live with it. Not theirs for just being cats.

Not theirs for just being cats.Good attitude. I'm lucky with the pair that currently owns me: I started clipping their claws when they were kittens. One is (and has always been) very laid back about it; the other is fine as long as she's wrapped in a towel (and she hasn't quite figured out yet that I often have her about 90% unwrapped!!).

Both ours are rescues, so are pretty wary of anybody trying to get them to do something she doesn't want..... our black was born in the rescue center, but this one (a tabbie) hates everyone who isn't her
