watchcaddy, I just looked at your flickr on Rock Star. I can't believe how dirty he was!! It brought tears to my eyes to think of that poor little kitty so dirty and neglected. I couldn't believe it was the same cat. I thought for sure it was a GRAY cat, not a dirty one.

Lucky Rock Star!

Yea, he was really really dirty. Found him wandering around a recycling center when we went to recycle some stuff and decided to take him home. No one ever believes he was the same cat.

I have my 50mm 1.4 for 3 years now and it is the only lens I use day in and day out. The quality is very good. I don't leave home without it.
I don't know if it is really worth it to upgrade from 1.8 to 1.4. May want to try it first before upgrading.

+1 there, all of our dogs/cats/hamsters have been rescue and because of motor problems (brain injury due to a motor accident), I can't work, so I spend my days at a local shelter acting out the part of an animal psychologist........ And I'd pay to do it I love it that much:D

......... motor problems (brain injury due to a motor accident)........

"Motor problems" or "sensory motor problems" refers to coordinated motion problems with such things as gait, vision, or proprioception. The etiology could be due to brain/spinal cord injury or it could also be genetic, such as in fragile X syndrome.

Brain injury in my case Bill.......... I put my bonce through my drivers side window, caused three haemorrages and put me in a coma for a few weeks. Now have trouble co-ordinating my left side.
Makes it easier working with scared animals though, they seem to sense that I'm 'broken', so not as big a threat.

Steve,
Our black often wanders off to a garden a few doors away and lays on top of there aviary, just like that on a sunny day. No harm in looking I suppose :D

I sincerely apologize for not reading very carefully. I thought that you were referring to pets that had been injured. A serious automobile accident is a very difficult thing to go through.

You do have a compassionate heart for our little furry friends.

So many great shots here! Here's our new addition, an angora female. Took these in very low light with the 50mm f/1.4 and the auto white balance didn't turn out well, so taking those factors into consideration, let me know what you think:

Thanks, we got here from the Humane Society, and we lucked out in getting a full-bred Angora. Her coat is a little rough, hence the name "Angora" (like Angora wool). We also lucked out on our previous addition, and got a full-bred Ocicat.

As far as we know. He doesn't have as distinctive markings like in the link you posted. His spots are dark against a dark coat, so he does appear at first to be a domestic short hair. We got him from the Humane Society and his breed just said "Ocicat." He could be a mix I suppose. His markings look very similar to this Ocicat mix:

http://blog.oregonlive.com/petoftheday/2008/03/Malissa.jpg

So Ocicat or half Ocicat doesn't matter to us!

Ah, yes. That look. I'm reminded of a Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comic book from the early '70s.

Fat Freddie's Cat was locked inside the apartment all day. Fat Freddie raced around looking for the inevitable pile of unpleasantness and - shock! - nothing.

Yes, I know that, I said that my cat looks similar to the cat pictured, in terms of the markings, not exactly like the pictured cat (which is from the web). ;)

And we're no cat experts either, we just snatch them up at Humane Society, five and counting (we'll be able to start our own Humane Society soon). We got the mysterious quasi-Ocicat, and then the Angora, who was actually labeled "angora mix," but the health records said "domestic long hair." But I really looked into to the characteristics of an Angora, and I swear she is dead on, down to the details.

Yeah, they like the Toto toilet we installed too. While the new toilet was in my office awaiting installation by the plumber, DeeJay parked himself in it. Very cute!!

Tgara, your cats are beautiful. What breed are they?

They are Birmans (aka, the Sacred Cat of Burma). We have 3 of them, and they come in several color variations. The dark one in the sink closest to you is a Seal Point. His bro in the toilet and sink in the photos above is a Blue Point. Their sister is a Blue Point Lynx since she is simlarly colored but has stripes on her forehead. I don't have a shot of her up yet, but I'll post one soon.

Here's a photo of Tabitha waving at the camera. Well, ok, she's attempting to capture a weed, but it looked like she was waving. She is part siamese and is the softest cat I've ever felt. That's Lily in the background. We couldn't get her to ever look at the camera.

I decided to be brave and post a few pictures :/

If anyone has seen my other comments about you will know that I am a complete beginner and that my camera baffles me :) I am also yet to attempt any editing which doesn't help I suppose. Just adding the font to the picture below took me long enough so figured I'd work on getting a decent picture before I tackle Photoshop! Well, excuses out of the way, here's a few cat pictures:

My homage to ICanHasCheezburger.com:

I recently discovered I didn't get all the fertile felines last year to stop the kitten boom in the neighborhood. These appeared last weekend, and I finally got a pic of them. It may be time to try to catch these and the mom and make sure they can't procreate. Anyone need a kitten?

She does that daily. She can't reach her fat belly to clean it so she pulls on it. Seeing it in action is nuts. She's stroking and licking at the same time. I tried to make a video of it once (5D2) but the camera wouldn't stay still while I was laughing.

If those cats are from Singapore (and the background of the ginger cat shot supports this), the snipped ear is a sign that the cats have been neutered. It's a practice that's always p***ed me off.
