I had a polydactyl gray tiger female. She had it on on all 4 feet. Just watch the claw in between the "thumbs" BTW - polydactylism was common in New England. They tracked the Tories that left after the Revolutionary war by the cats. They are also supposed to keep witches away!

And now Roxy! Jack is about 14 years old, maybe 15, and the female Roxy just turned two last week. She keeps him on the run, literally! Poor old guy. We did have another female before Roxy, of course, her name was Jill, she was six when she passed two years ago due to kidney failure brought on by diabetes. :( They all become part of our family quickly, and are more spoiled than any child could be.

and I don't know whose cat this is but it comes in every now and then for a meal and a nap (and has provided me with lots of subject matter to practice with my new camera) Hehe, that reminds me of our cat. We used to live in the country where they had free roam of the surrounding woods. When we moved to the city, they continued to roam. We've gotten reports from around the neighborhood about her going to other people's houses regularly, letting kids play with her, neaking into other people's houses... Apparently she's been found napping in basements, under beds, you name it.

Here's two of our five. The first is Macavity (the Mystery Cat). He's our old guy and sleepy-head but when the mood is upon him, he bounds around with the best. And he is still the most graceful jumper of the bunch.

The second is Mr. Mistoffeles or "Misto" for short. We got him as a kitten from a rescue organization. Little did we know that he would "blossom" into a 25 pound bruiser. But he's the baby of the bunch.

Both photos were taken with my XT and the 50mm f/1.8 lens. Macavity was taken in Av mode (handheld) with ambient light. Misso was shot in Auto mode with flash.

Thank you so much. Your complement made his evening. He had begged me to put one of his photos up so he could get complements like his dad. I was afraid no one would say anything... I realize this is OT but thank you again for your kind comment.

I feel bad now. I was thinking the same thing, "Hey, nice composition, nice focus, great depth of field... you've got a photographer there." You tend to forget how much things like that mean to kids.

BTW - I think this shot is another argument in favor of the kit lens. Look how crisp & sharp it is, and how vivid the colors are. I woudn't have thought twice about it if you said it had been shot with an "L". I honestly don't understand why people bash this lens. Used within it's limits it can produce beautiful results.
