Here are some more of my small 4 legged friends... These are all abandoned cat's that i usualy (by usualy i mean every other day) go feed and play with. I have 4 at home (already posted here before) but i treat these ones as if they were my own. I take them food, water, play with them and take them to the vet when needed. Almoust all of them are already neutered and got the treatment to get rid of parasites. If someone want's to come to Portugal and give me a hand i would apreciate that ;) this is geting a bit expensive for me since the "comunity" keep's on geting bigger every month...

#1 - I named this one Little Tiger. He was born last year and has a beautiful black/white/grey camouflage fur.

#2 - I named this one Miss Daisy. She's a verry kind cat with light brown fur and small white patches. She's got beautiful eyes, one is light green and the other is light blue.

#3 - These 2 are Miss Daisy and Lion. The one on the right was named Lion because of his fur, it's verry flufy and big. He's verry afraid of people but i'm starting to grow on him... last time he came up to me and wanted to play but soon run away scared...

#4 - This one is Little Tiger again but 1 and 1/2 month's older. He got a bit bigger and even more playfull.

#6 - This one os Miss Small Paws. She got this name because she is missing the tip of 2 fingers on eatch one of the front paws due to a fight with a dog. She is verry verry sweet and she's always the 1st one to come and great me when i arrive.

Good shots there. I like how you're almost at the level of the cats when they're on the floor. One thing to check would be on the photo of Simone is it looks like you missed the focus a little and for the back of her head instead of the eyes. Otherwise, nice shots.

Exposure info: 1/250, f1.8, ISO 400 with a little CS2 help. Thoughts?

You definitely nailed the focus on that one. I personally would have stopped the lens down a little more to get more depth of field (and probably sharpness) and then adjusted the shutter speed accordingly. Anyhow, it's definitely an improvement. Since you had image editing on, I took a shot at it with CS2.

I played with the curves a little to add a little more contrast and then boosted the colors one by one to brighten up the photo a bit.

Cats! Natural born models I tell ya, same temperment and all. Gotta love 'em. Here is a shot of my niece and her cat geronimo. I layered a gray scale on top of an slightly enhanced color photo (Adobe PhotoElements) and erased through to get the colors of the eyes. Both have very pretty eyes.

When possible, if you HAVE to use a flash, go very diffused, or completely bounced. It's that harsh direct flash which creates red-eye.

When possible, if you HAVE to use a flash, go very diffused, or completely bounced. It's that harsh direct flash which creates red-eye.When I use direct flash on my cats (they're black, and direct flash is good for showing up the texture of the fur) they exhibit green-eye rather than red-eye. Presumably cats' eyes are constructed slightly differently to human eyes.

I get the same effect, I try not to use the flash when taking shots of my cats, since I just have the flash on my 30D.

haha, its actually a product called Soft Paws, they're little rubber caps that go over the claws. A little more humane than declawing and still protects us and the furniture.

My wife and I have mastered the art of claw trimming. We started the two Siamese on it as kittens and they adapted to the process very quickly. Marky came to us full grown, but it's obvious he had his claws trimmed before because he's very cooperative. Of course, the fact that they get canned food (a treat for them) afterwards helps...

By the vet's reckoning, today is Guinness' 4th birthday. Took this to see how my old Sunpak 433D works with the 30D. Close-up is 100% crop, no post-processing at all.

Canon 30D, 50mm 1.4, manual exposure with flash... ISO 200, 1/100 sec. @ 5.6, auto-focus.

This is the same little girl some weeks older, in the linen basket (sorry the pictures a little bigger than 800 pix wide).

BTW both this little lady & her brother have now gone to their nice new home :) .
