Cats can be tough at large apertures. I've found the best FP when you're shooting them straight on is at the top of the nose right between the eyes. Nice kitty, try experimenting a little.

I see his ear is notched, which is why I thought he was adopted. Black cats are highly under rated. They are far superior in being friendly and a pet. Genetics has something to do with it.
I have had one in the past and now fostering two 3 mo. old kittens. They will start to purr before you touch them.

Nice placement of the table lamp.

The sad part was that I was reading a tutorial on backgrounds and how important it is to pay attention to what is behind your subject. Then the cat jumped up on the table and I put down the tutorial to grab my camera. Never even thought about the background until I was PP'ing the shot. So much for tutorials.

Awesome colors on that one!

Cheers. I think I did all that in the Adobe Raw thing (not actually Photoshop) which is rare for me. Gonna have to go back at Halloween for that guy.

One of these days I'll do a stray series... showing the various forms of deformed tails Japanese cats have. (Seriously).

I have a cat that really smirks. Normally I wouldn't post an image this bad (backlit) but I managed to catch it one time.

Nah, look at his right cheek -- he's got a wad of Red Man and just looking for a place to spit. :D A nice well-fed cat, he is.

The neighbor's cat was peeking on me while I was trying my lens on my balcony...

Hmmmm ..... looks like a peeping tom. ;)

BTW, the lens goes on the camera and not the balcony.

I was out in a field last night shooting some landscapes when I heard a very sad little call from some nearby bushes. A couple minutes later, this little girl comes out.

I tried to walk away, thinking she would go back to her mother, but she followed me as I left. She followed me for roughly 45 minutes. Finally, I took her back to where I found her and searched for her mother or some other kittens, but didn't find any. There were two houses nearby, but the owners knew nothing of the kitten. I assumed she had been dropped off.

She was filthy and appeared scared, so I just couldn't leave her there. I brought her home, cleaned her up the best I could and fed her. This morning she seems happy and is very playful. I made an appt for her at the vet for Monday. I can't really care for a kitten, but I'm going to make sure she's healthy and then look for a home for her.

I'm not too familiar with kittens, so if anyone has any idea how old she might be or how much/how often to feed her, I would appreciate a PM.

The vet will tell you for sure, but she looks young to me, about 8 weeks or so. If she followed you at that young and age I would think she was raised around people. Glad you have her and she is safe, as pretty as she is I'm sure you'll have no issues finding her a good home.

By which I presume you mean dumped. I can never understand how anyone can do something like this to a cat or dog, or indeed any other creature. There are always alternatives. I found my present dog (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=910989) dumped at the side of the road.

First oof, HOORAH for you for taking the time to try and find the littles one's home. A big smile for taking em in and giving the kitten a chance at a forever home. There may be something to the fact that this kitten followed you for so long, maybe you belong together! :-) Good luck in whatever you do and thanks for having a heart!

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and wishes. Very much appreciated.

The little girl is doing fine today. She is eating and playing and sleeping and seems to be enjoying herself. She likes to sleep on my lap while I'm on the computer.

I spoke with my sister today and she may be able to take her. That would be ideal because she would provide a great home and I would still get to see her occasionally.

Once again, thank you everybody. I'll post another picture soon.
