I'm in Puyallup. It's still a nice place, even when it's raining. It's just a who lot harder to get out and take some pics.

Yes, I agree it's nice, but this streak of rain is driving me crazy. There are so many local places I want to go and take pics, but can't because of all this water!
Those people in California are making me jealous.

Just outside Portland, Oregon. Rain? What rain?
Oh, the 12+ inches in the past month? It will stop. Some day. I hope. It sure does make it green. Mold and moss. Interesting that the moss in Washington state grows on all sides of the trees.

Yeah. It looks like another week (at least) of rain. Maybe it'll stop by February, maybe not.
The moss doesn't grow all around the trees in Oregon? :)

The moss will grow around your feet if you stand in one place too long! But, wait until that orb they call the Sun comes back out. It's going to be beautiful!!! I want to hit the rain forests at Olympic Nat. Park this spring...

We hit the rain forest a while back. It was the only day all year that it didn't rain.....go figure. It is quite a place. Hurricane Ridge isn't too bad either.

Here in Hermiston, we have had an unusually high amount of rain this year so far, the average rainfall for January is 1.16in, we have had a total of 2.2in already this year. I do not miss McMinnville at all. :p

Well...We just made our reservations for the weekend of March 24-26 at Lake Quinault, at the Lake Quinault Lodge for the Elk Festival.
http://www.visitlakequinault.com/calendar.shtml
We've been to the Quinault rain forest before and are really looking forward to this trip. They have interprative hikes. Guided photo shoots, etc, or (of course) you can just run off on your own. Anyway, my wife found this jewel and so we're going to see how it goes.

It's nasty down south here...Major wind and cold out of the Gorge. Youy can see for a million miles—can see Rainier from (the real) Vancouver, WA! But man, it's nasty outside!!! Was 22° last night. High today was 33°. Wind-chill is way below freezing...

Woke up over the weekend with morning temps at 12 degree's. The humidity has been so low that the air is real staticy. So I was real surprised when I looked up into the tree outside my window yesterday morning and found a single icicle about 4-5 inches long glistening in the sunshine. Lots of bird variety yesterday and today though.

I'm in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Anyone else part of the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs? (http://www.columbiacouncil.com/) It's a Pacific Northwest thing and I'm in our local chapter. There is a big camera conference every year. Anyone make it to last years? That was my first year of involvement.
We've been having beautiful weather. Just a bit chilly out at times.

Haven't had much rain here the last couple of weeks, but its been really cold (10-30 degrees). Its finally starting to warm up (25 at night to upper 40's low 50's during the day). Unfortunately we are entering our windy season, so winds of 25+ mph during the day.

My favorite place to shoot is Northern Oregon and the Oregon Coast. I did a trip two weeks ago and got some great pictures of Ice laiden waterfalls. It was a unique shoot since it was soo cold and windy that the waterfalls were mostly frozen but threre was no snow on the ground and it was sunny out. I have some pictures on my web site.

Well, I see there are many of you from the spectacular Pacific Northwest and some of you apparently have not heard of NWPhotographers.net . If you are interested in a regional, online group, where you can share photos, ideas, questions and meet other photographers around you, I suggest that you check out www.nwphotographers.net (http://www.nwphotographers.net). Visit the forums and join if you are interested. You may just find that there are others right near you who have similar interests and who are willing to meet with you and others.

I'm from Quincy WA.
Quincy! I didn't know they were letting in people from the big city! ;)
During most of the 80s (man that makes me sound old) I spent almost every weekend from Spring through Fall down at Crescent Bar, with a few summer weeks thrown in, too.
If I'd had a camera to document all the stuff we used to get into around there. . .I'd still be in trouble. :D
Actually, one of my all time favorite photography stories took place up near Quincy. Some friends and I were riding our motorcycles up and around some of the little lakes and trails. We stopped to take a break and have something to eat and drink near one of the lakes. After resting, I gathered my friends together by their motorcycles so I could take a group shot of them using my little 35mm fixed focal length, el-cheapo, point and shoot. A group of hikers in the background started screaming at us, throwing rocks, and one of them started running at us unleashing a stream of obscenities that easily carried across the water. We'd just barely even noticed they were there at all until the onslaught started. When we turned to see what all the fuss was about, we realized that they weren't just hikers, they were completely nude, and must have thought I was trying to take pictures of them in the buff. We didn't hang around to discuss matters.
I've read that the place has changed significantly with the winery boom. I could hardly believe the descriptions I was reading of some resort they were building over there. I guess it just goes to show you what us wet-siders will do for a little sunshine. :)

Thanks in advance.

PM me with any specifics that you want to know about and general guidelines about what you're looking for. I'm located just outside Tacoma (Puyallup), went to the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma - '92), and pass through regularly. If I don't know, I could probably find a good place to find out.
Burntbizzkit is also in Tacoma right now in the PLU area and might also be able to be of assistance.

Thanks for all the answers(and PM's). Still undecided if I want to move there, but I have alot of things to think about. Sometime in the next couple of weeks I am going to plan a trip up there to visit some friends that moved there and have a look around. My friends said they live in University Place? if I recall correctly.

University Place is a nice area. Well established, it is not the inner city. I prefer the county life. Where I can yell at my neighbor and not be heard.
This is a test photo.
What do you think?
