You have to be careful with Amazon as they raise their prices and then drop them to make it look like a good deal. Sometimes they do come in a couple of dollars below others, sometimes not.

So how do you like?

Lots of companies say that thier price is "X%" off. What they do is take that percentage off of the MSRP of that product. The new sale price is generally the regular retail price at most retailers. it is a gimic to make you think you got a stellar deal. It usually works too.

Great excuse to buy more stuff.

"Honey, my backpack needs more padding. Can I order another lens or two to fill it up so everything is nice and safe?" That'll go well. ;)

For those who have it, is there an area to fit a notebook (the paper type, not a laptop) and maybe a couple of magazines?

felix21685
18th of January 2006 (Wed), 01:50
yeah theres 2 zipper compartments in addition to the main one.
one that lets u store lets say 5 magazines and a smaller one which holds my camera manual and some cords.
hope that helps

I have been using my 200EG for 4-5 months and I think it works great. It seems to be hard to beat for the money.

Got the backpack today from Amazon. i was expecting it much later with an expected ship date of the 28th to February 3rd.

The first thing i did was remove the "please steal me" Canon logo from the front of the bag with a small flathead screwdriver. When i can find my X-acto knife i'll remove the sewn-in Canon tag. Already, it's pretty indistinguishable from your average college student's backpack. :)

Haven't had time to field test it yet, but it seems to be quite a good fit for my miniscule amount of gear (20D with kit lens and 50mm f/1.4 with lens hood). The only things i miss this early on are the compartments from the 200DG gadget bag where i could stash a few 4x6s, which i used as samples. No worries though, a simple 4x6 wallet will do the job.

Thanks for the info guys.

I just got back from the west coast and used my canon bag extensively.
you have to be careful when grabbing the bag front (above the canon logo) when you can't get your hand on the shoulder straps or the little loop holder. when grabbing it from the front, it has a tendancy to unzip the main compartment where your gear is stored. I noticed this when I was grabbing teh bag from underneath the seat in the airplane.
Over all it seems like a very well made bag and was quite comfortable when worn as a backpack. Mine was pretty heavy as I had 5 magazines, 2 cans of Pepsi, 1 bag of Peperidge Farm Goldfish crackers, 75-300 IS Lens, Canon D60 with my tamron lens, 5 BP-511 batteries, the Canon Dual charger, Nikon coolpix 5400 and it's 3 batteries and charger, couple of packs of smokes, and a pair of headphones.

I doubt it since I can't fit either of my laptops into it and they only have 13" screens.

I've had one for a couple months as well.. paid ~$42 including shipping.

I think I've out grown it with my equipment :|

For $35, it's an awesome bag.. mine has seen a TON of use, and my only issue with it so far, is that the waist belt was pulled out of the seam... had to cut the other side off. Not a big deal as I didn't use it very often...

Max screen size that can fit is 12". Love this bag though. Hoping it'll fit my (still to come) new 580ex along with everything else.

Except you have a nast Cajun rice MRE... Lol I have 3 in the trunk of my car along with water just in case of an emergency someday... them things can really come in handy.

The more I look at that backpack the more handy I think it would be... may have to get one soon.

Gonna chime in here. When I bought my XT for an Alaska cruise I did not know any better and got a Tamrac shoulder bag for what I thought I would need. The more I thought about it the more I thought I should take a backpack type bag on a trip like this. Money is an issue and read *a lot* about backpacks and played with a few at the local camera store. After all was said and done - ordered the Canon backpack - took it on the cruise and NEVER took it off (almost). It went everywhere - held what I needed it to hold - and was FANTASTIC. I thought for the price it could be a "throwaway" if it got dirty or beat up or was low quality. It is a fantastic bag - I am not a PJ or anything - but for my purposes it it great and I see no need for a new bag for quite some time - which is nice because after learning a little bit (enough to be dangerous AND expensive) I am saving for some quality glass!!! SNAP SAFE - Tim.

There is a Shutterfly special going on right now.

If you purchase this bag from Amazon (currently it's $36.94), then you get a coupon code for a free $25 print package at Shutterfly. The package consists of 10 4x6, 5 5x7, and 5 8x10 prints.

I thought it made a good deal better and so I ordered one...

Actually, the Cajun Rice and Beans wasn't that bad. i've got another flavor in the car for an emergency as well.

There are times when I wish I had a smaller shoulder bag, since it would be easier to pull the camera out quickly, but the backpack is such a good value that you can't pass it up.

I have this bag and it's been all over the world with me. My only gripe is that I have to take it off to get to the stuff inside. I'm thinking about going with a Lowepro Slingshot 200 that I can just swing around to the front when I want to change lenses.

I wish they sold this in the UK. I had to get a Hama rucksack (not the best design) because it was the only thing in the price bracket.
