Can you believe the warm weather we are having? We should have met at Dulles this week. Too bad the playoffs are this weekend and we all have commitments. Tomorrow would have been a great day to take pictures of planes.

You want to take pictures of planes, there's an air show at a small airport near Kennett Square, PA second Sunday every June. My BIL hangars his plane there so there'd be a place to work out of. New Garden Field and the Colonial Flying Corps.

I live 5 minutes from BWI and there is a park where the planes fly over at VERY low altitude, around 200 feet. The runway is about 20 yards off the side of the road so if you want to meet up, just let me know when and I can find out if they'll be using that runway that day ;) . My neighbors are both pilots and work out of Andrews AF Base so I can get myself and up to 2 more people access to all the "good spots" at the annual shot at the base.

National also has a park right off the end of the runway, and they have to either land or depart across it!

I am at Dulles everyday. I usually shoot directly beside runway 19L from my golf cart. Since I have ramp access and SIDA ID :)

I've asked that everything from GM(an)PE post #133 on be split off as a new thread Penn/DelMarVa Aviation shooting, as we're on to planning our next (several) sessions - can't let the Kiwis have all the fun! Spoke to my sister & brother-in-law about the New Garden show (http://www.n57.com/museum.htm) and Jim will mention our interest to Ev DuPont, the FBO. I'll follow up with a call to see if they'd be willing/able to give us a good, restricted to us, shooting spot along the flight line.

Sounds good to me. I hope to see you all in a few weeks anyway. So, we can talk more then.

Hi again. I was at the BWI park yesterday shooting some planes when I was approached and invited to a local aviation spotters group. Just thought that I would share. It is a Yahoo group called WashBaltSpotters. Many of the members are Photogs and shoot regularly. Join up!

I'd like more info on them as well. Love planes.

Spoke to Everitt DuPont, the manager at New Garden (http://www.n57.com) Jan. 28 when I was up joining my sister & brother-in-law for a fly-in to Lancaster Regional (2 hour drive for a 30 minute flight to have lunch, then the same in reverse - now you know why they call them "Hundred Dollar Hamburgers"). Anyway, there should be no problem getting a set-aside for us to shoot from at their annual air show (usually around 2nd Sunday in June) if there's interest.
Acts include the (based) Roger Lehnert Flying Farmer and Teeny Weeny Airport (J3 landing on a Ford Ranger, last I looked - the Cub's constant, the truck varies), Matt Chapman and his CAP 231. Usually some other aerobatics pilots as well. Lex DuPont operates an FM2 Wildcat out of there and there are a number of Fairchild "warbugs" there as well. Usually a number of other WW II and other warbirds too. Last year the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum couldn't make it with their B-25, but they've been there in the past. There's been one or another Aero Vodochody (have to look that spelling up) jet trainer for the past several yeears. Other exotica have included a Douglas Dolphn, DC-2, An-2 Colt.
New Garden's just off US 1, 18 miles into Pennsylvania. It's a 2 hour drive for me from Kensington,up 95 and 895 to MD 534 and 136 to US 1. It's about 5 1/2 miles this side of Longwood Gardens.

My kids would love it, Jon. Let me talk to my family. Sunday's are tough because of church, but that's something we've never done and my husband works for Lockheed. Last time we saw a show of any kind, we were in Owego, NY watching the Lockheed helicopters taking off. It's always amazing. Now they are making Marine One there.
