Hi guys, i'm new here. I just bought a 10D 2 days ago. and i charged it up when i first got it and used it till the battery ran down today to where it had the"charge low" icon on the screen (not the "battery must be recharged" icon). So i decided to stick my battery (bp-511) on the charger (CB-5L) and for some reason, even though the battery is low, the light seems to blink a few times and then goes constant all within seconds. I let it sit for about 2 hrs, and then stick the battery in the camera, and it still gives me the "low charge" icon instead of full. One weird thing is the camera actually stays on, and i'm able to take pictures, but when i try using the Zoombrowser EX program to DL the pics to my comp, it says that the camera has been powered down due to little or no battery charge. Any help would be great for this newbie here.

It's not possible to check the charger output without a battery in place - I've just tried charger needs to be under load before it will give any output - and impossible with a battery in place. So that idea went out of the window!
It could be the charger not charging or the battery not accepting the charge.
Only answer really is to hike back to the shop (if possible) and try another charger on your battery/battery on your charger/different charged battery in your camera.
One thing - check the battery voltage anyway, if fully charged it will be around 8.4v. If this is OK then the other possibility is a bad connection between camera and battery.
Sorry I can't be more specific.

Same problem with my charger. Bought second battery - same result. The problem must be in charger. I have to put the battery on/off severel times to get it charged on full. It is necessary to see all 3 modes (single, double, tripple) of blinking LED. Then it is possible to fully charge it.

hmm, i've tried just putting the battery on/off several times, and it still does the same thing. blinks once-blinks 2 times-blinks 3 times- constant, all within a matter of seconds. I just don't get it. I'm gonna try to find a shop that has these chargers and batteries in stock, and see if they'll let me test them out. But aside from that, any other suggestions?
